When I first looked at his video and knowing that Ferguson was already on board, I wasn't too excited about adding Dobbs. After further review, I am starting to change the opinion. One thing a quarterback must be able to do is learn quickly and retain what he is taught. He must also have the capacity to process information quickly, particularly in the heat of battle. This kid may be a bigger beast in the classroom than he is on the football field right now. He had offers from Ivy League schools. Here is what coach Jake had to say about him, "Joshua is highly intelligent and makes great decisions. You can see him work through progressions on video and get to check downs. He can make all the throws--short, intermediate and long. Joshua has really good size and field vision."His last two years of high school ball are impressive. 6738 yards passing, 58 touchdown throws, 619 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on the ground. As I described Peterman to a fan not too long ago, this is not a running quarterback per say, but he is a QB that can run and run well if necessary.

Me too. My first opinions of Dobbs were based on watching his Jr. film, and he looked very mediocre. I couldn't understand how in the world he ended up with 3 of the 4 services giving him 4-stars AND how he became an elite-11 finalist. Then I watched his Sr. highlight film, and it all made sense. |
