Looks like CBJ is will be welcome anytime at the Adams household in Mempho. I will just add this, some of the descriptions by others in Studly's post were very similar to what was said about Hugh Freese when he was hired at Ole Miss. Just looking for a nugget of positive vibrations here: Tennstud Head Coach 14987 posts this site Send Private Message Posted: Today 10:56 AM "I was depressed, sick, all day after the UT Memphis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last night, having a brief dinner with long time friend, Memphis qb great, Tim Jones, I received a call. It was Memphis Grizlies GM, Chris Wallace, who has spent many years dealing with the eccentric behavior of coaches as asst. GM at Miami, GM for Boston, and for the past 6 years GM of our Memphis Grizzlies. Chris is originally from West Virginia and retains many mountain values, among them loyalty, to his home state and school. I had carried him as my guest to the UT Memphis breakfast. Of course, he was recognized, and I noticed he spent several minutes conversing with Butch Jones. Chris told the story of West Virginia choosing, selecting, Butch Jones to be the new head football coach at WVU when unexpectedly the interim coach, Stewart, lead W Va to a bowl victory. Then the W Va governor, the power brokers, insisted that Stewart be named permanent head football coach instead of Butch Jones. Butch Jones had been passed over. Butch and Chris talked about that episode. Chris Walllace then told me how sick, depressed, he had been all day after listening and observing Butch Jones moderate, handle, the UT breakfast meeting. Folks, we have a unique, down to earth, common sense, but very smart, head football coach! Liberty Bowl executive, Steve Earhart, who has spent 30 years dealing with various head football coaches for his bowl, and who spent a week with Butch last year when Cincinatti was in the LIberty Bowl beating Vanderbilt, was present and in extending greetings, just shook his head and said " I can't believe UT hit such a home run!" Great times are in front of us at UT! |
