He closed as well as can be expected by reasonable people. But of course you are far from reasonable.
Who did he close with?
Apparently reasonable people expect an SEC coach with the SEC's largest stadium and one of the most successful programs in the history of college football to close with Big East talent ... I'm unreasonable.

You think this Von Bell crap was bad, just wait until this time next year when Todd Kelly Jr sticks it in our face. He'll probably handle his more like Bell than Ramsey and make us think he's coming here all the way up until signing day. 3 crappy signing classes in a row and you can't blame Kelly or anyone else. We've hit a domino effect and and I don't see it stopping anytime soon. Our only chance maybe to have a good year on the field this year. We will have a lot more talent this year than in the next 2-3. If we don't have a good year and land a strong recruiting class I don't see another chance to do it for a long time.

Overcoming the damage caused by Dooley won't be an overnight thing. Just the fact that Butch had us in the mix with some of these players lets you know that he's a much better coach than Dooley. I agree that Butch needs to have a good season to show the '14 recruits that he can develop and coach. If he doesn't have a top 10 recruiting class in '14 after being here a year, then we'll pretty well know he won't make it.

Let me emphasize again that most people just don't realize the mess that Butch inherited when he took the job. Dooley ruined our program and left it in much worse shape than Bill Battle did.

Good timing ... always remember that Hart was pleased that UT spent less than $1,000 on our coaching search.

Ole Miss was #40 in recruiting in 2012. I wonder what Ole Miss fans were thinking a year ago.

If things can't get worse today. Todd Helton gets a DUI and we have twitter fans sending death threats to kids.

I am telling you, Fulmer sold UT's sports soul to the devil in 1998 and we are now living amidst the Fulmer Curse.

I think you are right about the impact of Dooley on the program.

Yeah, some people like to blame it all on Fulmer. His overall 75% winning percentage is looking pretty good right now when you consider the good out of conference teams he played most every year. I believe Tennessee would have had a better record the past 4 years if he had coached. I didn't have a problem with them letting him go, but we're getting worse evey year since he left thanks to pencil necked Hamilton.

ability.
Other than Thig and Martinez who was available to hire? Azzani was in the big 10, and JG has coached in the SEC. That's four top flight recruiters not counting the HC. He closed as well as can be expected by reasonable people. But of course you are far from reasonable.

You guys think a coach can just snap his fingers and these kids will come running. It's going to be a loooooong off season for some of you guys. [/quote]Good lord Leon!!!

1) We closed with an injured TB we stole from ECU, a smallish DE we stole from SYR, a DL player from SC that instate teams didn't recruit, and Dobbs- the only quality recruit we closed with.

2) And if you will decipher Tux and others who are grading our class by position such as OL, DT, LB, TB, etc you will understand this is a DISASTER class that will just kill us off for the next few years.

3) I don't care if Jones is a combo of Neyland/Bryant/Lombardi as a Coach. Drool's is leaving him with maybe 25-35 players who are really SEC calibre and only 2-4 upper level SEC players. You CAN NOT WIN IN THE USA with this kind of talent left by Dooley and what was signed today by Jones.

4) Realistically we have a CHANCE to beat only 3 every season SEC opponents- Vandy, Kensucky, and Missouri. And we lost to 2 of those 3 this past year. We have NO REASONABLE chance of beating any other opponent in the SEC who we play yearly.

5) Lets also stop this pity party of excuses about him doing the best he could or the best that could be expected. We EXPECT a 3 Million a year HC to get it done in recruiting and on the field. End of story. No excuses.
