This is a copy of an email just forwarded to me. The man who originated the email claims to have been at a SC booster luncheon or meeting at the Columbia Touchdown Club with Ward as the featured guest. This occurred either yesterday or today at lunch time EDT. This reminded me of the TV broadcast of the Jawja game when Gary Danielson was calling UT's running plays out of formation before the ball was snapped. SC's defensive coordinator speaks ... Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just heard SC's defensive coordinator speak at the Columbia Touchdown Club. He said UT was the "most predictable" offense they have prepared for because UT gives everything away with their formations and personnel groupings. He called UT's predictability "kind of sad, really." He said UT's OL is "almost as good as LSU's," but they waste it by not running the ball. He said SC is not worried about UT's running game because UT won't stick with it. He also said SC would bring a lot of heat early because Bray gets rattled easily and is afraid to be hit. They expect Bray to make at least one big mistake early and get benched. He predicted the kind of win that SC had against UGA. |

That's a VQ post. No DC in his right mind would say those sort of things in that way, whether or not he really believed it ... tons of embellishment in that post. Regardless, if we are so predictable and "sad", then I guess all those points we've scored this year are purely talent. |

Correct. While most, if not ALL of that, is very true there is no DC alive who is going to utter such to the press or to fans. Lets say he was smoking crack and said such. How long do you think he would have a job if the opponent hung 30 points on his defense after he said that BEFORE the game. |

I haven't been on Volqest and the email originated in South Carolina from a friend of Ronnie M's, who is close friends with Tommy Moffitt. Whether it's legit or not and I believe it is, the information is now in the hands of the Tennessee staff. Add: Ward did speak there today. They honor the high school players of the week at the meeting. Ward is a first year coordinator, maybe he's got a big mouth. Here's what his generic comment was on their Scout website: “He does a good job of getting rid of the football,” Ward said. “Sometimes that’s his own fault and he throws it when he shouldn’t and throws it to the other team. We have to play good, tight coverage and when we don’t put pressure on him." Ya think the note about bringing pressure early and often might be available between the lines in the above quote? Sounds like a pretty sound assessment of our QB. I don't know if a cattle prod up the back side could stimulate our team to play better. You may want to send some of those gals on your moniker for inspiration. Might work better. Full article on mrsec.com. |

I can believe he would say it and I believe he did. Guess who I think put him up to it? SC probably just trying to challenge TN to make it a more interesting game. Everything this defensive coordinator said is true and TN will still be predictable because you can't just all the sudden change what you've installed. It will be interesting to hear Spurriers jokes after the game. |

Actually Spurrier said,"We were lucky to win today". I think he meant it. |

Spurrier usually makes those kinds of comments after a win. |
