I thought it was an interesting post by Stud over on TOS. He has some good connections and he's right most of the time.

IMO TS is spot on about Dooley ignoring the Memphis athletes where there were 30 last year who signed Div 1 scholly's and we didn't get a single High School SR from Memphis.

But i disagree that TS has any connections to a Hart Athletic Department or a Dooley staff. TS is usually very pessimistic like I am, but in this case I think he is just being pessimistic about the very remote possibility that Hart retains our LOSER of a HC. That way he can be happy when Hart boots Dooley.

Never Fear, the End is Near!

Say what you want about the 30 or so players from Memphis playing college football elsewhere, but I don't blame Dooley in the least for staying away from the cesspool that is Memphis High School Football. Just take a look at the news of investigations; i.e., Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Auburn, etc. He's got a lot better sources in areas that are closer to Knoxville.

Whether you, TS or anyone else likes it or not, Hart doesn't have the money to buyout Dooley and his staff, plus the money that would be needed to make the job attractive to anyone of substance. Anyone of substance would be a lot of money and not a client of Jimmy Sexton, Jr. Boosters are not going to ante up any money for this pie in the sky project. AV you've got four more years to bellyache about Dooley, so you might as well enjoy it.

If Dooley loses Saturday, I don't see how Hart would keep him. There would be no enthusiasm for football at Tenn. Tenn will find the money if a change is desired. Now, if Dooley wins this weekend and runs the table, that could be a different story.

Ignoring? Memphis had a horrible crop of HS players in the 2012 class. Exactly which of these "great" Memphis players did you want Dooley to sign?

Are you upset because Dooley didn't bribe 4* RB Jovon Robinson and have someone go in and change his transcripts? Are you pissed at Dooley because he didn't sign peewee RB Brian Kimbrow to the Vols, so that you could complain about how undersized he is like you do about Young and Watson?

Seriously, only Will Redmond and Sheldon Dawson are perhaps the only players that you might actually be happy with out of Memphis last year, and Dooley and the staff were on both of them. But, Dawson had a bad camp at Tennessee and he fell down the priority list a little, and we recruited over him with players like Orta, Bonner, Gray and McNeil (all better than Dawson). Redmond chose to sign with a school that was close to home

What are these other "superstars" out of Memphis last year that we oh-so-needed to sign?

You would be wrong on both accounts:

1) You HAVE to recruit Memphis if you are the HC at UT. You can't wuss out and let bammer, LSU, Miss State, AU, Miami, FSU, UGA, and even Candy come in there and get starters on their teams- which for the most part have been better programs than UT the last 7 years. Atlanta and South FL recruiting are dirty and nasty also. But that doesn't keep the elite teams away. You can't be pristine and snobby in Recruiting- or you get what we have seen on the field for 7 years now!!!

2) You can't be more wrong about Dooley being at UT for 4 more years either. Hart knows he can't have 65-85K people in a 100-105K seat stadium. Hart also has seen a marked drop off of Donations and trinket sales. As I have said before- if you keep Dooley for 2013 you pay him 2 Million in salary and then 4 Million buyout for a total of 6 Million- but you also see the fan base become more apathetic, donations decrease, attendance decrease, and Dooley chatter about being on the hotseat continue to hurt recruiting. But you fire him after this season and you owe him 5 Million buyout and no more salary. You energize the fan base and possibly increase donations and almost certainly attendance in 2013 to see the new HC. You almost certainly energize 2013 recruiting and you CERTAINLY energize 2014 recruiting. It really is a No Brainer for Hart- unless Dool's wins the USCe game. The MSU game was Dool's most important game of his UT career and now the USCe game is simply a MUST WIN for him.

Hindsight is always 20/20

1) Kimbrow is a far better runt than Devrin Young who has No Speed and Q. Watson who grew up in the shadow of UGA who literally didn't even talk to him. Stop the exaggeration! UF did fairly well with speedster runts like Rainey and Demps who are both on NFL squads right now. I won't say Kimbrow is in their class yet BUT I know damn well that Young and Watson are not! Geez Louise!

2) Jovan Robinson is better than any TB UT signed last year. UT didn't even try. Did UT turn in AU for cheating?

3) Redmond and Dawson were not recruited aggresively by Dool's and are almost certainly better than Orta and Gray. You need 4-5 DB's in every class kind of like you need 3-4 OL in every class. I could tell you more details about Redmonds recruiting by Dooley but I gotta get back to work. But Dool's didn't do a good job with him at all.

1) Not going to deny that Kimbrow is better than Young and Watson. I didn't want Watson, but his scholarship is likely a favor to Dooley's home school. My point was that you seem to always hate on the small backs ...

2) Tennessee was recruiting Robinson hard, but then suddenly stopped. Speculation at the time was that it was due to grades ...

3) We have 5 DBs in our 2012 class (McNeil, Orta, Thomas, Gray, and Bonner), and yes I would have liked to have Dawson and Redmond sign with UT. I agree that Dawson was not recruited aggressively, and I think that had to do with his camp performance. I don't know what happened with Redmond ... he said "trustworthiness" was his biggest issue, so I'm assuming that he felt that Dooley or someone on Dooley's staff were not being honest with him.

Kimbrow: we didnt need another runt. You would have been griping about him to no end had we signed him. I'm not sure if he's any better than Pig anyway, to be honest.

Robinson: there may very well be a reason we didnt even try with him.

Redmond and Dawson I dont have a clue about.

All three were reported to be bought and paid for by other schools. Why get involved in that?

All recruits we miss on are bought and paid for. Probably most of the recruits we dont miss on, too. The Memphis players/coaches are just too stupid to understand discretion.

So of these whiney negs just need to get themselves a tin cup and some pencils and get out on a corner and start trying to riase the buyout and new staff contract money. Think they can raise 15-18 million by January?

Money grows on trees. UT has plenty of trees, but the limbs are bare. when it comes to the $18 to $20 mil aren't they? Just a bunch of bitching to be bitching. Oh yea, and "LOOK AT ME". We listened to this on Volchat for a while, then on OM and now here. Seems like a bunch of liberals trying to do their bidding with other peoples' money. Dadgum.
