When did Dooley state he wasn't involved with the defense? I find that hard to believe. What about special teams?
Confirming Jolly ... it was in the press conference following the loss against Junior. Here's the link at 5:36 ...

In a press conference since the South Carolina Game. I've only read about it, but supposedly he said that he only concentrated on special teams and offense and that only Superman could focus on offense, special teams AND defense.
You are over reacting to what I said while not even mentioning what Tux and Zippy said. I threw out a question to start the thread for discussion where I was basically saying- if our record sucks for 2 straight years in 2011 and 2012, our defense is THE worst in the entire history of UT football, and UT just tied a SEC record of FUTILITY with Vandy and Kensucky as the ONLY SEC teams in HISTORY to start out 3 straight seasons in the SEC at 0-5, then is the talent that much better??? Now I also went ahead to say that we had 85 players now where we had around 72 when Dool's got there so the numbers are fine now. And I also say that ON PAPER we have a lot of mid 4* guys who are the #150-350 type ranked players coming out of High School. But it sure is NOT showing up on the field and with wins/losses.

So IMO it was a legit question BUT it naturally should morph over into the question of COACHING if we are going to say the talent is improved. This seems to be what you are doing with a post above but you may be the only one who is doing this. My point was that either the talent is way overrated or the coaching is horrendous. And I KNEW full well that Tux and Wagee were not going to give an inch on either of these. To them we have great talent AND we have a great HC. So how do you start 3 straight seasons at 0-5 and tie a SEC record of futility if that is the case.

Finally, TUX posted that our talent was 100,000% better and Zippy did some similar hyperbole. I don't see you disagreeing with them on their post. But if our talent was 100,000% better or it was a no brainer as wagee and Zippy say then it still should overcome teams like MSU and USCe right? Or is our coaching that horrendous? These guys on this site are trying to have it both ways. One of the two is very over rated.

Zippy is saying our talent is better, and it's silly to argue otherwise. I've also said that unless you are arguing otherwise, you should shut up...because I'm not arguing with you when you say the coaching is worse. It is worse, on defense clearly so...but thats a completely different argument from what I'm talking about.

That should clear things up, and I assume you are going to stop talking now.

Surely you understand that saying that something 100,000 better is not intended to be interpreted literally. You do understand that.....right? I don't remember Zip saying anything in that same manner, but perhaps I missed it.

My honest opinion remains that I think Dooley should be allowed to finish the season unfired. I've been very consistent in that regard. It doesn't mean that I'm happy about how things are going or that I think he's done a fantastic job. I just don't particularly want another coaching change at this point, I don't want the recruiting for this year to be damaged, and frankly, given the odd road we've traveled, I could live with 7 - 5 with a bowl win as a sign of progress...IF Sunseri is sent back to Bammer with a banjo on his knee.

Given that this is my opinion, it meshes better with Tux's than yours. AS a result, I'm more likely to call bs on your posts, particularly when you try to convince us that the talent level isn't any better. Honestly, it appeared that you tried to fling that turd against the wall and when it didn't stick, then you started in on anything other thing you could get your hands on.....but you'd never let go of the talent thing.

I would like it if everybody would be a little more tolerant of the other's opinions...if that makes you feel any better......

That almost exactly mirrors my opinion.

My paramount issues are (a) I don't want another head coaching change right now, and (b) I feel that there has been adequate improvement this year. I will feel differently next year if there isn't a dramatic improvement in the W-L columns.

Whoever made the decision to hire Sunseri needs to go.

As for Dooley: I like the guy and still say we'd be better off if he works out. However, after watching this team play and lose the games we've lost THIS SEASON (the only season where we've had the talent to compete and win a few)...the way we've lost them...I'm pretty convinced it's not going to happen for him. That's the main reason I'm ready to go another way now.

That and I'm pretty convinced it's what's going to happen regardless of my feelings on the matter.
