Multiple sites are reporting bullshit. There are a couple of guys from 8thmaxim and volnations joining other forums and posting crap like they know something. If someone was gonna leak this stuff about Gruden coming to UT, it would be to a news agency or ESPN. |

All the posts I have seen from lwsvol have been very consistent. Boosters are as frustrated as fans. He doesn't know if Dooley would be fired. He said, IF FIRED, he would do it after the USC game so there would be no chance of a bowl for Dooley. IF FIRED, the boosters he knows said they will make a run at Jon Gruden and make him say no. He put the possibility of Gruden coming at 10%. LWSvol has consistently said that he thought Dooley or any coach deserves 5 years to get his program in full gear. I don't know lwsvol, but he is not trying to inflame the Vol masses. We seem to do that all by ourselves. Now, on Jon Gruden. The last time I said no way-no how was with Nick Saban to Bammer. My Dad has a lot friends/contacts on the Dolphins and every one of them said no way-no how Saban goes to Bammer. We know what happened. There is a little difference in Saban and Gruden in that Gruden has spent almost his entire career in the NFL and has only been a HC in the NFL. Most coaches stay in the NFL for the challenge, the benefits (insurance/pension/etc), and the fact that there is an off season where they don't have to be out recruiting 17 and 18 year olds. They also, as head coaches, report to A GM and AN OWNER. There is no AD, President of the University, big time boosters, former graduates, booster clubs and very, very important---PLAYERS PARENTS WHO THINK JR SHOULD BE PLAYING MORE. That is a big deal. |

Good post el diablo By the way, BigAl and Hubbs are both denying this rumor (I know, big surprise huh?) BigAl went on to say that his source told him that IF there had been any conversations, that only Hart would know about them - that is, Hart would be the source of leaks ... and he isn't leaking ... so ... I guess we now know that both of these posters of full of it, and we'll wait for the next rumor, huh? |

All of you are overlooking a very big negative - the one in Memphis - Roy Adams. The new coach, if there is one forthcoming has to face him at the BOC get together and answer why he is isn't recruiting Memphis and/or talking about the Memphis players at UTK and why he is coddling the Memphis area HS coaches. |

Not totally true with Hubbs. His communique with his insiders (I'm not one) says "It is in Dooley's best interest to win out or be fired before the season is over. Money will not be an issue in buying him out or paying new staff. UT will throw plenty of money at Gruden and make him tell them no. Another tidbit, Jon is researching UT's condition. He's talking with Fulmer and other college coaches about the pros and cons of the college game." Nothing has been agreed on but Gruden hasn't said no yet either, so his interest is there. |

No offense, but whatever is going to happen, LWS and others like him do not have a clue. No booster of mega bucks is going to confide anything to middle management, or for that matter...senior management at UT....other than the AD and President of the University....because it would require some collaboration. Gruden may be in the works.....but the "in the know" people of note have known nothing since Fulmers inner circle was busted up. |

I haven't seen any big booster help pay for anybody's buyout in the history of UT athletics. Thunder Thornton alledgely offered to pay Fulmer's raise (or something like that) but whatever it was it never happened. Haslams are the only ones that I know of who could come up with the money and I think most of that money is now tied up in Cleveland as in Cleveland Browns. |

"Money will not be an issue in buying him out or paying new staff. " Beg to differ on this view. A significant # is owed this coaching staff - millions - that would be paid out over several years. The revenue #'s for UT athletics is well known - and they aren't in a growing mode. Gruden - and his new staff (can't say there is a single coach or coordinator from this one he'd keep) won't be inexpensive either. Goodness knows if he could even put together a coaching staff - as he has been away from the game for several years.. Combine the two #'s - well its a lot of money the University doesn't have - and expecting some booster to pony up the millions - for a football coaching staff vs say a likewise investment in to bricks/motar isn't a happening thing. |

You're missing the point that it's the powerful boosters driving this train and have committed the money to make the change to get Gruden. This move won't cost UTAD a dime if it happens. Hart is just riding along and won't contest it, but he's probably hoping Gruden turns us down so he can get his choice, Kirby Smart. |

Nope - not at all. Tennessee doesn't have a BCBC - and that is a starting point. So lets just focus on those with 100 million net worth.. Nice number 100 million. No one at this level commits millions with their eyes closed - just doesn't happen. Another example - Peyton Manning's name keeps surfacing as pushing for a change - how many millions do you believe Manning has committed to this change? Understanding he does have some dollars - and at this point in time as a "booster" how many millions has be given to UTK? Another thought - you're the fellow with 25 to 30 million to take care of a mistake made by a former AD at Tennessee.. How many people are gonna remember your investment 5 years from now? When you say Hart is along for the ride - who is aware of the booster/boosters committed millions if not Hart? |
