http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/feed/2012-08/firstand10/story/coaches-on-hot-seat-derek-dooley-joker-phillips-gene-chizik-bobby-petrino It will be hard to keep Dooley now that the media and fans are discussing his status so much. Even if he runs the table, the enthusiasm will not be there for 2013. Plus recruits must be skeptical of putting their futures in Knoxville. Forget the talk of Gruden. He's not coming. My fear is Tenn is so desperate that they would hire Petrino. |

Think Auburn and Tuberville - when Auburn was playing footsie with Petrino. Keeping Dooley isn't that big a deal IMO - and turnover of coaches in the SEC is the norm these days. |

I think Dooley is gone. I think we need an honest coach who can win. It's not Petrino! Auburn is a good home for the dirt bag. |

If Petrino were our coach, we'd likely be 6-1 right now. Just sayin' |

Zippy You're probably right about Petrino being 6--1 now. The NCAA would also be on campus. It's not worth the price of winning to bring in Petrino, have sanctions. and watch him leave. |

Petrino doesnt have NCAA issues. He has marital infidelity issues....actually, more or less all coaches have those issues. What he really has is 'I got caught and got the shit beat out of me, and had to give one hideously embarrasing press conference' issue. |

If he can cheat on his wife, he will have no problem cheating with the football program. |

That's not necessarily true. Lots...and I mean LOTS...of people are unfaithful. Most people in my experience, in all walks of life and all professions. If your goal is to hire a coach who is faithful to his wife? You are not going to be choosing from a very large pool of potential candidates. No, the main difference w/ Petrino is like I said: it's not the cheating that sets him apart, it's that he got so obviously caught in such an outrageous manner. The main problem I have with him is that he was stupid enough to actually HIRE his mistress. Stupid, stupid stupid...but that's easily rectified in his new job. |

I think the poor national image he would bring to Tennessee would negate all the good years that Tenn has built being an honest program. We can not afford a guy with questionable character. |

That may be true, but I've not been arguing against it. Petrino isnt an NCAA problem....perception problem, mainly...but not an NCAA dog-house issue. Though the perception problem is due to the public manner in which he was caught having his affair moreso than the fact that he had one. Dude doesnt understand discretion. |

Actually I would hop on the petrino train at this point. I don't care if he gets a daily blow job given by whatever coed happens to like giving them. 1) He's available 2) He's a winner 3) He's a known entity that will generate recruiting interest. Most those kids won't give a crap whether he had a girlfriend and gave her motorcycle rides. 4) He'd be an idiot to repeat his past transgressions...and he's a pretty smart guy 5) We'd put in major penalties if he did a cut and run like he did at Atlanta 6) He's shown that he can turn a program around fast 8) It would piss off the SEC Office |

As a UT graduate, I am more concerned with the poor imagine he would give Tenn. There are other coaches who can win at Tenn. Petrino isn't the only one out there! Don't forget, Fl went with an assistant coach and look where they are today. |

As a UT graduate....I'm not concerned at all. The guy didn't get in NCAA trouble at Louisville or Arkansas and you can bet he'll have a morals clause in his contract that would make Ron Jeremy into a altar boy. He'd been a wonderful reclamation story......man with soiled reputation redeems himself and leads the Vols to SEC Title. |

Petrino is a smart football coach, but he i a flake who has not lived his life above the board and has left every other job in a bad fashion. Thanks, but no thanks. |
