This is the first HUGE recruit that I completely attribute to Martin's ability to recruit. (Stokes had family at UT and he couldn't go to UK or Memphi due to schollies not being available. If Martin can keep mining west tn....he could have a hell of a run at UT..... ESPN Scout Rivals Edited by JollyVolly, Sep 17 2012, 08:02 AM.

Good for Martin ... Martin has now recruited two 5-star players ... by contrast, Dooley has recruited one 5-star player, and he smoked his way to TTU. Amazing job by Martin. Absolutely amazing. Edited by OrangeRev, Sep 17 2012, 09:38 AM.

The basketball program was winning under Pearl, unlike the football program under Moby Phil and Boy Kiffin. To throw a dart at Dooley is not really fair now is it? This is a basketball recruit and has nothing to do with football. Can confirm that the commitment is solid. Just got off the phone with the sports editor of Dyersburg paper and he is at Dyer County High School right now getting ready to interview Hubbs and the corch. |

Williams would be great....but the one I really want is Nichols. If we get both of them, I just hope Trayvon Landry is a good point guard. If Stokes stays we can sign four.....and that would fill the class. With a great point guard Williams, Hubbs, Nichols and PG would be a GREAT well rounded class. |

I'm don't want to turn this into a football thread. My point is that Martin has some hot sauce that is needed to bring in top players ... much like what Franklin is doing at Vandy, only not to the same degree. Hot sauce motivates top recruits to commit to a school like Tennessee over Duke, and hot sauce will motivate a team to become better than their talent level. Dooley recruits very well, and I'm very pleased with what he's done on the recruiting front ... but I don't think Dooley has hot sauce. |

You can tell by watching the b-ball team that they really like / respect Martin. He holds them to very high standards and they seem to enjoy meeting those standards to please him. A great example from last year is when he sat Golden and kept him from starting the second half against SC in Columbia because he snatched a towel from the towel person - because he was frustrated at having several turnovers in a short time. How many coaches would have done that? How many more times will Golden show anger coming off the court? What you are getting in return are grounded, family oriented players because Martin recruits the kids AND the families. They see where he's been and where's he going and they want to be a part of that. My biggest concern for Martin was recuiting. I'm no longer concerned. |

AJ Davis from my old stomping grounds may be next. He is a small forward from Buford High School outside Atlanta. |

Does this mean Stokes is gone next year? I still think they are going to take Williams and Nichols... |
