I tend to agree with Doug Matthews here. In a game like this, you want to go with what your strength is and not worry too much about establishing anything else. To me, that is wasting plays. Short passes are as good as running plays. Excerpt from ChalkTalk with Matthews: The reason I like our chances so much in our ball game is that first off I think we're a good bit better than we were at this point last year, significantly better. I'm not sure that Florida really is any better than they were a year ago. Secondly, we've got some pieces to the puzzle, guys who can make big plays. Guys who can run by you, guys who can take kicks and make big plays. I hate to use the word, but we've got a gunslinger at quarterback who thinks he can throw it through a brick wall, and I love that part of it. The downside is that we don't have a running back that scares you a lot. You'd like to have it all, but I really like our offensive scheme and our weapons against this defense. We've pass protected well, that's going to be key, hopefully we'll be able to run a little bit, but I don't think that's crucial. This goes against the grain, I know, but you don't worry about going out in this game and being balanced or trying to get the running game going. You go out there and whatever the defense gives you, you attack it. If that means you throw it 50 times, that's what you do. I like our chances, I really do. |

Agreed, do what works, look for mismatches which is what we have been doing really well at this year. We will have the gators on their heels by quarter 2 wondering WTF? I have us winning by 17 pts, reasons? 1st year QB that won't be able to hear a air horn from 3 feet, Sals dfence attacking relentlessly from every imaginable angle, Bray, Patterson, Hunter and our O line's pass blocking prolly is one of the best in Country (or damn near close)..... Besides I don't think we are just a good bit better than last year, I think we are leaps and bounds better than last year... |
