Often accused over the past three years of, perhaps, being a supporter of the ousted Chubby Checkerboard, Doug Matthews has been really positive over the past three weeks concerning this staff and this Vol football team. Short snipet from his Chalktalk on Volquest: Anything else you want to touch on immediately from the opener? One thing I want to be sure to mention, if you'll remember last week, I said that 'first games are coaches games.' Well, from that standpoint, Tennessee was an excellently prepared football team. I thought the staff did a great job having them ready to play. We had a couple penalties, movement before the snap, things like that. But overall, and especially for a season opener, it was not a sloppy or poorly executed game by any means. You want to try and build on that but it was a great start. |
