I'd be just as happy to stay where we are and just keep winning ball games. We don't need anybody telling us we're good yet....we need to stay hunger and motivated. I'm tickled that we got out of NC State's game with only a minor injury to Lathers. If we can stay this healthy the rest of the way, it would be a big help. After watching Fl play BG on Saturday, we should beat Florida week after next. I've now seen Georgia, Florida, SC and Vandy play and there' no reason that we can't play competitively with any of them. They all have a pretty significant weakness that can be exploited. If I had to think of one, I'd say running between the tackles is ours....but the 2nd half gave me hope that it's still fixable. |

Plus, most of if not all the teams in the 15-25 range in the polls mostly won and some of them won big. Gata struggled but won, so they stay in the top 25. Any upsets in that last 10 in range this weekend might put the Vols into the poll next week. I agree there's no hurry. When they really deserve to be ranked, they will be. |

Burning Man, 2009 FOREVER

a LOT of our running struggles were on Neal. There were a couple plays that got blown up in the backfield, but Neal missed the hole multiple times. He needs to sit down and watch tapes from Montario Hardesty in 2009 for like... a week. Get the ball, pick your hole, cut up field and GO. Maybe he can learn through osmosis or something. |

It's hard for me to see if there are holes or not watching on tv. I hope it was Neal at fault but I'm not sold on that yet. Hopefully he was just trying to make something happen by trying to kick everything outside. Dooley was right....they tried too much in the first half trying Neal up the middle. |

The back has to trust that the hole will be there, most of the time the hole isn't open until the back is within a step of the linemen. It is at this point that he makes his cut if need be and hits the hole full bore. If he takes the handoff and doesn't see the hole right away, and cuts it to the outside, then he doesn't have the experience to play the position correctly. He has to trust that the hole will open for him otherwise he will not be an effective running back. |
