Florida Facing Test Before UT Game

It is about time that Florida faces a test before it plays UT.

How many times have the Vols played quality opponents prior to playing the Gators? Florida has not played a regular season out of conference game outside of the state of Florida in almost 15 years. Now they will at least face someone other than Coastal Carolina r the Citadel before they play the Vols. They will have to play their big guns for a majority of the game before they play us.

We will see if the talented Gators can clean up their game after struggling mightily against the Dave Clawson coached Bowling Green Falcons Saturday.

Florida was in a battle right up until about midway through the 4th quarter. Their offense is pretty shakey.

I think Florida has a morale problem. Muschamp is too temperamental, which he showed again during the game. He doesn't treat his players with any degree of respect. He could be gone by the end of the season.

Couple of things here you might watch for in the next couple of weeks. 1. On an incomplete throw by Driskel yesterday, the black receiver ran straight over to the black quarterback who has been battling Driskel for the job and they both became very animated. I smell trouble with who wants who to be playing QB.
Secondly, it is my understanding that Mustardchamp's statement at a booster meeting is plastered all over the dressing rooms at Texas A&M. When asked about College Station, Mustardchamp responded, "Have you ever been there, if you haven't, you will only go once."
And finally, they are still very undisiplined on defense. The last time I saw a number, they had 12 penalties yesterday. They had multiple pass interference penalties in the UT game last year even after Hunter was injured.
I am torn as to whether or not it would be better for them to win or lose at A&M. What is your opinion?

If Florida wins, we will look better to those voting in the polls by beating them. If they lose, I am not sure they have that little extra something to get up for the Tenn game. They are getting a beating in practice and to lose is another beating. If they win and it's a close game, they may not have the energy to face another good opponent. Bottom line, I think Tennessee is a better team and at home, will win.

Offensive - A&M has NFL caliber talent at the RB - position - and one of the best true freshman RB's in the nation. T. Williams - led his HS team to a state championship at the 5A (largest HS) level.

Offensive line - NFL talent - no questions both tackles Joeckel & Matthews could very well be 1st round draft choices. Size and depth.

QB - Johnny Manziel - starting his first game. The upside Kliff Kingsbury is his position coach and coordinator.

WR - R. Swope - NFL caliber 89 catches > 1,200 yards. Deep, not much experience - a couple guys similiar in size to C. Patterson - RSF - M. Evans.

Nothing fancy about the Sumlin/Kingbury offense. Behind this O-line I suspect Manziel will do well from the get go.

Defense - h'mmmm the front 7 have been around for a couple years - switching to the 4-3 w/o the talent move outside LBers to DE, i.e. undersized Porter is a good LB - and it'll be interesting to see if B. Alexander can handle the DE slot. He certainly has the talent..

The secondary - even losing two to the NFL - they may be better this season. Sherman had to go OOS - to get CB's - mix in a kid from up the road in Livingston - there is size and speed - it'll be a WIP.

Sidenote - the Aggies lead the nation in sacks last year, 59th in total defense 109th against the pass.

Mike Sherman squandered a lot of talent during his tenure, they had Arkansas on the ropes - the the SHermanator rocked back and took a nap.-

Sumlin, et al have the pieces - a nice recruiting class in 12 - 13 is a better one, though there are some academic issues swirling around several of them. Also gets B. Williams at RB - the transfer from OU.

Muschamp's comments directed at College Station was spot on - just ask the resident 2% TuxAg. Kyle field is a bat s*t laden, nothing works, dump. The stadium distractions aside, jack booted, nut grabbin' shaved heads, yell leaders are something one wants to see, once. Most Ags make the visit to Kyle a day trip - and if they travel far stay in places other then Bryan/College Station.

The game - I suspect the offense will do well from the get go - and be a good one the entire season. Defense - good at times - then a total melt down. Muschamp does indeed have experience coaching defenses vs an offense just like this one.

Texas A&M has never been that good vs SEC teams. I suspect the Gators will win this one.

Hullabaloo kaneck, kaneck..

Florida is a very talented team but has some serious issues.

A major developing issue on that team is the QB situation. From all reports, Brissett was the best QB in camp, but he split reps with Driskel and Brissett. This morning he came out and named Driskel his starter.

During the game against Bowling Green, after Driskel threw some incomplete passes, some of the wide receivers were coming back to the sidelines straight to Brissett and engaged in some animate conversations with him. We may have a racial QB controversy within team ranks brewing.

Florida doesn't have any long term festering issues - Muschamp/Pease now have a starting QB - and a back-up. IMO Muschamp overplayed the "smash mouth" RTDB - and understands that today.

The defense will receive a quick tune-up this week.

IMO we'll see a much different Florida team in College Station..

To me, it doesn't matter if Florida wins or not. The fact that they have to travel all the way to A&M is big. I am used to them looking very average against to warm up teams and then Whuppin' our arses. A&M is at a disadvantage b/c their 1st game was postponed.

The game I am looking forward to is UGA at Mizzou. Mizzou DLmen shot his mouth off about UGA playing "old man football." So, that game should be exciting. UGA gets some players back off suspension, I believe, also.

I'm looking forward to the Mizzou game, too. I would not be shocked if they beat UGA, I would not be shocked if they lose by 30. Half the reason I'm looking forward to it is to just have a gauge on whether or not Mizzou is any good.

Good chance Florida starts the season 1-2, IMO.

The Mizzou board is a cocky one. They watched various games this past weekend and talked about how they will beat this team and that team based on what they saw.

Texas A&M has put up a billboard in Gainesville announcing that they are annexing Gainesville. http://www.gatorzone.com/harry/blog/1016

That's funny ... but, I thought Vandy had the title of best academics and cleanest program in the SEC?

Is TAMU saying that they are now replacing Vandy as the suckiest football team in the SEC?

Mizzou certainly looked as good as anyone in the East on Sat, but they were playing directional Louisiana so it's hard to say whether or not that means anything (I.E. everyone looks good when they are playing against air). UGA is pretty good (and very talented) but they have some issues to work out, it should be a really good game.

UGA has some of it's players suspended until they play Tennessee. How will their defense fare without their best playmakers?

FYI, that billboard in Gainesville was put up by some Longhorn fans stirring the pot.

I don't think Missouree belongs on a field with Georgia, but we shall see. I still think Candy goes over there and beats them the first of next month.
