This is a theory I have but I believe that there may be some validity to it. Downfield blocking by the wideouts, which was atrocious last year, has been a point of emphasis with Darin Hinshaw since he moved to coach the receivers. I suspect that some of these big pass plays in the scrimmages have not only been the result of good pitch and catch, but also because there has been some blocking going on by the receivers not involved in catching the football. So, if this in mind, perhaps the DBs haven't been that out of position or confused, but may have just gotten blocked. This is one thing that I will be watching for in the opener, are the off receivers blocking defensive backs down the field.

D. Rogers didn't block anybody, as far as home games, last year. He looked like he was giving an effort in the Spring game. Can't have big plays without WRs blocking, imo. |
