Are we too optimistic now!

We are now seeing more and more Vol fans on here think we are going to win nine games or in a few cases, 10 games. Are we drifting from reality? No one is accounting for an upset. The Miss State is a trap game if I ever seen one. Fl, Ga, USC and Ala all have more talent than Tenn. Miss State, NCS, and Missouri are not sure things. Maybe there is too much optimistic now, much like every team in America. Are we moving away from reality?

Nope. It's August and we are still undefeated...

I've got plenty of time to be pessimistic later.

It all a matter of personal perspective. Do you see the glass half full or half empty?

Doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty...if you knock over the glass the same amount of liquid spills on the floor.

Those who are saying 10-2 are living in lala land IMO. IIRC this time last year a lot of folks were saying we were going to win 8 games and the season turned into a total cluster...

Hope we win 10 games..but I see 8 wins on the high-end and if I had to bet a 100 dollar bill I'd say 7.

As stated...before the season every team is going undefeated and play for a national championship...But this UT team, Dooley and staff are going to have to show me they have improved 200% to win 9-10 games just 9 months from ending a season full of disasters and numerous beatdowns.

Nope - player wise Tennessee is loaded. The usual pre-season stuff is being tossed around - big deal. Every fan should expect Tennessee to go undefeated..

Your comment, "It all a matter of personal perspective. Do you see the glass half full or half empty?" is not dealing with reality. The glass is not half full OR half empty. It is BOTH half empty and half full. That's reality.

using the half/half - overlooks many things concerning a vessel's volume. The question should be why is the vessel at 50% capacity.

#1 - the Tennessee offense is going to be good - with possibly an over dependence upon the passing game.
#2 - the Tennessee defense is a best described as a work in progress. Will it be a turn over/fumbles/picks generating defense? (Much like last years Oklahoma State defense?) Or will the SEC offenses see if the Volunteer defense can shut down the running game - as I suspect UF, USC, UGa, Missouri will all attempt to establish the running gave when playing Tennessee.

For a pessimist, sure. But for an optimist like myself, it is real.

Tennessee was an 8 win team at this time last year, just as this year's team is a 9 to 10 win team at this point. If we have the same injury voodoo this year as we had last year, yeah we'll do worse. But if we dont....

BTW: I'll take that bet. I get over on 7.5, you get under.

Quit beating yourself on the chest because you are an optimist. The optimist is just as unrealistic as the pessimist. They both live in narrow worlds unable to see what is in front of them. The realist is the person who can see the glass is both half full and half empty.

Personally, I'll be a realist later. Again: plenty of time for that next offseason if it's necessary. Hope springs eternal in August, though. I mean hell, just listen to Vanderbilt's fan...even he's happy right now.

I said 8 wins on the high-end....You willing to bet the over 8? Put your money where your loyality is.

Saying UT WAS an 8 win team last year is like saying if there wasn't so many indians Custer would have retired on Generals pay....We won't ever know.

here's what you said: " if I had to bet a 100 dollar bill I'd say 7"

So I'll take 8.

Also: I did not say Tennessee was an 8 win team last year. They were a 5 win team last year. I said they were an 8 win team at THIS TIME last year....meaning they had a roster that should have won 8 games, but losing Hunter and Bray pretty much threw that out the window.
