The UT media is upset about UT closing it's scrimmages and practices to the Knoxville UT media. As we have discussed, UT has hired it's own writer, Drew Edwards and a photographer to cover UT practices and scrimmages. The media is pissed about that.Personally, I find Rucker to be a good guy. Slightly arrogant, but still a good guy. Can you blame the UTAD for blocking the UT media from attending practices and scrimmages, especially in light of how they have attacked Dooley, the football program, and the UTAD? The UTAD has ever right to control the agenda, the images, and the message coming from practices and scrimmages. Why should they allow Hyams, Basillio, Climer, Pennington, and Griffith to create yet another "trouble brewing at UT and Dooley" column? For what it's worth, the UT Sports website has done an admirable job in it;s coverage of UT's camp, thus far. I do not believe that the KNS or 247 sports or anyone else local, could do a better job than the UTAD has done. |

^^^^^ Everything you said. Yes, Rucker has not been part of the problem (although the organization he is affiliated with - KNS and GoVolsXtra - has been part of the problem). Neither has Hubbs and his staff been part of the problem. But, until this negative news coverage stops, I'm perfectly OK with the restrictions. By the way, have you noticed that Rucker frequently seems to place himself in the view of the video camera during interviews? I'm not saying he's doing it on purpose, but ... I guess ... well, yes ... he's doing it on purpose. |

Why hell no don't let them SOB's in. They'd be staring at Tyler Bray the whole time like a bunch of queers. They'd watch every move and every winch and find some way to pick him apart. I guarantee they would. Screw them. Keep them out of there. They can fill air time with their soap opera drama. |

They could have sat their asses up on the hills with the fans that were watching the scrimmage. Have to disagree on Rucker. I find him to be a smart-assed, left wing punk who needs to shut his friggin pie hole. Guys like Hubbs and his crew and Patrick Brown from Nooga are having to abide by the rules even though they haven't been involved in the shenanigans that some of these other jerks have stooped down to. The truth be told, what's really pissing them off is the aggressive coverage provided free by utsports.com. They can't be selling subscriptions when the uuniversity's official site is beating them to the net with all the pertinent information. |

Yes, that's got to be on Rucker's mind. Seriously, UT just has far too much full-time (or near full-time) media covering the sports programs. And there just aren't enough eyeballs out there to justify all those reporters ... there just aren't. This is what gives rise to so much negative reporting. Reporters feel the pressure to get the eyeballs, and we all know that negativity draws in the web-site hits. This is the condition of the media circus around Knoxville. So, really, we just need to have a period of getting rid of the Basillio's, Hyams, etc. of the Tennessee media circus. There are some lean times ahead Wes. Are you going to be able to withstand the hunger pains? Honestly, I think you will. So be patient, and stop whining. Edited by OrangeRev, Aug 11 2012, 08:30 PM.

Have to agree with Lonzo on Rucker. He acts like a child sometimes. |

Rucker is a smart ass, and a child. So is Lane Kiffin. Since I have the mentality of a 12 year old, that probably explains why I like both of them. |

I have told a friend of mine from Knoxville, that everyone seems to have or have had their own radio talk show or writes for some shopper mail piece. In other words, their are a lot of wannabees in Knoxville. There is one website that was even created to talk about their talk shows. As we have seen, the Knoxville media has been starting to thin out a bit and the writers move onto new pastures in another city or they move from the paper to radio or to a recruiting site. Addendum: John Adams moaned and groans about the UT media being kept at 100 arms length from the scrimmage. Does he not get it that the media created this problem in the first place? The media definitely believes that they are a privileged bunch. Edited by TennesseeTuxedo, Aug 12 2012, 09:37 AM.

People outside of the practice field at Milligan College are reporting that Brent Hubbs and UT Associate Athletic Director of Communications, Jimmy Stanton were seen having a heated exchange and Hubbs stormed off in a huff when it was finished. |

Stanton probably told him to stop wearing Crimson (Alabama) and Oregon Ducks shirts around the practice field ... true story ... the shirts, that is. |
