... personal issues ... gone back to Louisiana ... status is unknown ... Dooley has not talked with him, but has talked with parents. The fact that Dooley had not talked with him seems to indicate to me that he just packed up his bags and left.

It is possible that he has a child back in Louisiana.

(In case you are lost, Bourque is a 4* RB, true freshman and has been in Knoxville for only about two weeks ... he has not been making noise in the first week of practice, and some have speculated that his heart wasn't in it. This could be a simple case of home-sickness ... but, I'm guessing he's gone).

I'd hate it, but...

In his defense, if he's going to go...now's the time.

I thought he was running for Supreme Court Justice or something.

Nah, that guy is black ... Devonte Bourque is actually Swedish and he has wanted to be a Vol for over 10 years. Here is a recruiting video his dad made about 5-6 years ago, trying to entice Phil Fulmer to start looking at his son and offer him an early scholarship even though he was still in Jr High.

A friend of Bourque's father, who posts on VN, said that Bourque is in Knoxville.

Dooley was asked after Monday morning practice if there was any new word on Devante Bourque. Dooley said no.

According to some posters ona couple of other sites, some of the people working with the VFL program have been in contact with Bourque and his family on a daily basis.

According to Bourque's facebook page (I have not looked) per posters on two sites, Bourque has posted on his FB page that he is in Atlanta.

The longer this goes on, the more the chance that he comes back dwindles.

Too many problems too soon in his career. It will be hard for him to be a factor at Tenn. It's best we move on.

Bourque has demonstrated a history of commitment problems ... he can't stick with things when the going gets a little rough or inconvenient. Even if he were to come back to Tennessee, it is only a matter of time before he will be gone again. I've written him off, not only in terms of Tennessee but for any meaningful future ... sorry, I've just seen this pattern play out far too often, and the chances of it turning around are about as much as winning the mega-millions jackpot.

I've mentally written him off, too.

Looks like the light may have come on for Neal (and possibly Devrin), though...so maybe not a huge loss.

While no one will say it officially, it certainly looks like the Devante Bourque era is over at Tennessee. Bourque just up and disappeared on Thursday before the team left for Milligan. Tennessee has tried on multiple, multiple occasions to reach Bourque and talk to him, but he has not been willing to talk to the Vol staff. There has been no indication that he can or will be talked into returning. Bourque practiced with the team, told teammates he was going to get his stuff and then bolted Knoxville, allegedly on a Grayhound bus. In fact, we're told Bourque's dorm room still contains many of his personal belongings.

Bourque is gone and he is not likely to come back.

Derek Dooley told the media that Devante Bourque is not part of this team.
