Looks like they are using a position called Administrative Intern to add three additional coaches.

Bet you didn't know about the older Ad. Assistant. Guess what, he's a former offensive coordinator at some smaller schools.

Football
Coach Brian Wajert

(Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks)

Coach Brian Wajert is the Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Benedict College.

His college coaching stops since 1987 have included University of the South, Alabama A&M, Southern Utah, Kent State, Pittsburgh, Maryville College, Salisbury State University and Hobart College.

During a 3-year period as offensive coordinator at the Naval Academy Preparatory School, Wajert's (pronounced Way-Jurt) offenses averaged 30 points per game, nearly 400 yards per game and compiled a 22-8 record.

Wajert lettered one year at Hobart College (NY) and earned a political science degree in 1986. He also earned a Master's Degree in Education counseling at Salisbury State University in 1989.

He was a three-sport athlete at New Castle (PA) High School graduating in 1981. The New Castle, Pa. native lives in Columbia, SC.

Just an after thought here. Talked to a guy who is a UTM grad and goes to most of their games. He said the young quarterbacks coach that is now on the Vol staff is a very bright and ambitious football coach. The guy said he knew UTM wouldn't be able to keep him for very long.

There is a UT Martin player who works in the plant for a company that I work with. I asked him about the former UTM coach. He said that the players and head coach hated to see him go. He said that he is sharp as a tack.

The NCAA approved 4 coaching intern positions beginning in 2012 ... but, not sure why there are 5 listed there.

At that time, did they eliminate the positions of Graduate Assistants?

When I looked at the grad assistants position, in this thread I noted the changes that the NCAA had made.

It was my understanding that the number of GAs effectively increased from 2 to 4, and their time increased from 2-3 years - but UT is showing 3 "administration intern" positions). I guess "intern" means low-paid or unpaid and they don't have to be in school. I'm assuming that this was what I was reading about earlier. Bottom line is that they just created a greater ability for up-n-coming coaches to get experience. And, that's a good thing for all schools and for the up-n-coming coaches.

Fields is a holdover from last season. So as it stands right now by the way they are listed, UT has two grad assistants and three ad. interns. Perhaps Fields was grand fathered in for one more year.
