In reading another board I saw where there are bumper stickers and tee shirts that say "8-4 or out the door" referring to Dooley. If true, I hope these are just a small, select few group of morons who have no other way to get attention. If I was Dooley and saw a lot of things like this, I would tank the season as hard as I possibly could, collect my 5 million, and leave town flipping a bird to everyone.

What a great slogan-----for other team's recruiters to use against UT. Once again we are seeing why Tennessee is known to have some of the stupidest, most ignorant fans on the face of the earth. Mr. Hart has made it very clear that he will place no artificial number on the football program or coaches this year. He has said he wants to see improvement and he will. 8-4==piece of cake! :coolaid:

It's probably 7-5 or out the door. 8-4 means he gets a raise.

If he beats Bammer, Georgia, Florida, and Vandy then I'll give him a 4-8 pass to 2013 ... and a raise.

Akron, Georgia State and Troy are going to be monumental challenges. Also, I disagree absolutely on 7-5 being an out the door proposition. That's a two game improvement over last year and progress is the name of the game right now. However, this is all hypothetical because this team is going places barring a real crippling rash of injuries. I really believe they would have won 8 last year had they not lost their two best offensive weapons. Think that doesn't hurt, see Indy Colts 2011.

If he cannot win 8 games with this schedule.................
Ga State, Akron, and Troy - should be a given, all at home.

Fl & Bama - also at home - Do not see winning against Bammer. Too much talent and a coaching advantage, home or not. Florida had difficulty stopping us last year after Hunter went down and this was with a team playing shell-shocked (was right behind the bench a few rows off the field, no doubt this happened). Not sold on Muschamp as a head coach no no advantage there. I think we will be able to throw the ball on them but I question the run game, which we have to have. I also think this (and possible others) will be affected greatly by the kicking game which I have no confidence in (from both a players standpoint and new coach standpoint). Home field "should" have some affect and I think a night game would help with that. Heat will not be a factor for them in Sept like it is with some teams. To me a huge game for confidence in DD. They should have a very good defense though. Tough one to call.

Missouri, Vandy, Ky - end the season and should mean something with a decent bowl to play for. Should sweep

At Ga, Miss St and SC (did not count Vandy as away) - Do not see us winning at GA - too much talent and a hostile away crowd. Think we will win at MS St. Should win against SC with their RB coming off an injury, Jay Graham helping with game prep and them losing some talent to the draft. Still an away game and Spurrier.

At a neutral field for NC St - Have not been good historically in the dome or lately against the damned ACC. And this game is our strength (passing game) against theirs (secondary). Still think we can score more points and win.

If he beats alabama and loses to every other team, I'll personally pay his raise.

If he goes 7-5 this year, he's out the door. Maybe not this year, but certainly the next. He needs to do better this season to build some equity for 2013, when we have to rebuild our offense (again).

Also, 7-5 will hurt recruiting ... there are several players who will commit to the Vols if they demonstrate a significant winning season, and they may likely go other places if we only do 7-5 (Bell is one of these).

They understand the "bare cupboard" that Dooley has had to use over the last two years, but that cupboard is well stocked for 2012.

Correct. Dooley has recruited fairly well for 3 straight classes, and our schedule this year is as easy as it's ever going to be. He has all world talent at QB, good to great talent on the OL, and our talent at WR is really just ridiculous. If he cant do better than 7-5 this year, he cant do better than 7-5 at UT; and I'm completely off his bandwagon*.

*I expect and believe we are going to do better than 7-5, so I dont think this is an issue at all. I'm just sayin'.

Whatever his record this season Dooley will never "tank" a game. That would be the end of his college coaching career.

correct, unless he beats 'Bama. If he beats Bama he's going in the Tn hall of fame.

(he's not going to beat Bama).

If our team looks stronger and we recruit some more good lineman, he should get another year regardless. Do you want to finally get some defensive lineman, then fire the coach so they go elsewhere? I don't think this AD will be as fire happy as the last one.
