Why do we not have an extra cross divisional game/9th game in the SEC? We all know that a lot of schools do not want to have to chance losing a shot at a berth in the National Championship Game. The SE schedule is brutal as it is and an extra game could upset the apple cart. That is why a playoff is needed. Then we will all be on similar footing. SEC Needs Extra Cross Divisional Game |

taken from the article; "On the other hand, I’m not so sure the college football world would slide off its axis if the Mississippi State-Kentucky series or Vanderbilt-Ole Miss game were discontinued. But with the current schedule format, everybody needs a permanent dance partner. While most coaches oppose adding another conference game so they can keep scheduling games against Cupcake U. and Walkover State, Alabama’s Nick Saban went on record last week in support of a nine-game conference schedule." Cross divisional game for Alabama - two mentioned above Vanderbilt & Kentucky - i.e. cupcakes. From the west MSU and Ole Miss (interesting side note - high water marks for both schools - beating Florida in the recent past) The elites, Alabama and LSU have been beating SECE teams on a regular basis - year in and out. Adding another east team to their schedule - i.e. another cupcake - BFD. While you may consider the games, themselves as being brutal - the Alabama's the LSU's consider them wins.. The SECE needs to step it up - does UGa, South Carolina or Florida have what it takes to beat the elites from the west? Florida has some recent history of doing so - South Carolina upset Alabama a couple years ago - the fell on their faces. UGa - MR has taken on a "Beamerish" type quality - consistent - as long as they aren't a top 25 type team.. Then in typical Ag fashion - jump to a "play-off" As outlined above adding a cupcake from the east doesn't upset the apple cart (remember Ole Miss knocking off Florida - and how that all turned out for each team?) |
