The 94' team has very few seniors on it. They started off pretty bad except for the Georgia game, but as some young people began to step up such as Tyrone Hines and Peyton Manning, the team got better as the season went along. By the end of the season they may have been playing as good as any team in the country despite finish 8-4, due to the 1-3 start. With the new staff I can see this team getting off to a slow start especially with two formidable opponents such as NC State and Florida. If this season goes as well as a lot of people think, I think it will be the South Carolina game that will be Dooley's first big win at TN. SC will probably be pretty darn good. We would also have to beat Missouri and Miss St if we got off to a 1-3 start and go 8-4. Actually it would be a 2-2 start because Akron and Georgia State is 2 of those teams. So if we go 8-4, that's how I predict we'll do it. Losses to NC State,Georgia,UF, and Bama. Then we'll blow out Virginia Tech in peach bowl. |

Don't forget the end of the season in 1994 was against cupcake teams, Ky, Vandy, etc. Also, the 89 team was all offense and no defense. Not the case in 94. |

South Carolina - IMO a much better team that some believe. That defense will help them win a buncha games, once again, this year. Missouri - nothing earth shattering about their defense - offense nothing earth shattering there either - with one exception. There has been a lot of talk about talented NFL caliber WR's around here. The Tigers have a true freshman WR - considered the #1 recruit in the land - who is ready - size - height and weight, speed, agressive and smart and no ego.. He will be fun to watch.. The talk about difficulty of schedules - comparing this year to last - a wasted effort. Tennessee goes in to this season, with talent, experience, and depth - all excuses used in the past as short comings. IMO the biggest issue is the coaching staff - and the ability to be just that - not individual pieces by a well coordinated coaching staff. None the less - as much as things change - they remain the same for Tennessee - its Florida & UGa and of recent vintage South Carolina. Those are the meaningful games. |

Exactly why I think comparisons between 1989 and 2012 are so accurate...except that 2012 isnt going 11-1. |
