stunning admission - basically he, as do the college presidents, are clueless as to all this expansion..

Now, he has to come up with the money to pay for this expansion. The presidents of all 14 conference members are waiting and watching..

Joe Schad on ESPN's "College Football Live' said the the four super conferences would expand to 16 teams within the next 3-5 years and that ND knows it has to join one of these conferences during that time period or be left with lower rated schools to play and a very iffy TV contract situation. I guess I'm not the only crazy-stupid guy who has called that one Humble.

ESPN has just announced that Notre Dame has been formally offered to join the ACC and a more attractive formal offer (imo) to join the Big 12. The ND Fathers are considering both offers.

its not as if ND doesn't know what's involved in being a conference member - it already is - just not in football.

The folks that count - like ND football and its place in the college game - there have been discussions about a move to a different conference in other sports - and playing 2 to 3 games a year against teams in that conference I'd take that as serious and a tremendous benefit to the ND brand..

Again, I wouldn't be shocked or surprised to see Notre Dame playing football on Thanksgiving - going head to head with the NFL

I don't believe that getting ND will save the ACC. It is a dead conference walking.

How often are you wrong about all this >99% of the time?

The dead and buried Big 12 lost 4 teams in what 24 months - and look at them now.. 10 teams fat and happy.

College presidents have a good grasp on their universities. Loftin talked about academics in that sports venue this week - and for good reason. World class undergraduate programs. That is an excellent selling point.

leaving the ACC for the SEC, or Big 12 for sports?

Write the following down somewhere Aggie

"The ACC is the single largest content provider to all of the ESPN networks, whether college or pro.

Let that sink in for a moment. The ACC provides more live content to ESPN than the NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12. Some do ignore how strong the ACC has been as a TV property over the long haul for ESPN. "

Big 10 would be ND's destination. They already play Purdue, Mich, Mich State every year and swing another couple of B10 teams into the schedule. They could always drop the service academies and BC and fit right in.

There is the problem - ND is bigger than any conference - and few want to admit that little fact.

It has nothing to do with money - like the SEC - nothing to do with being the lead dog in a pack, see the Big East - as long as its football - its Notre Dame..

Money - the conference whores who are all about money forget one thing - its about the game.
