a pipe line is just that - cheap shotting a 3A isn't fair zipster.

He is a WR - and on first glance is filling needs - not necessarily WR but special teams as an example.

Who's trying to be fair? A private 3A school in TN just isnt my first thought of choice when thinking of awesome pipelines to talent, because, well, it's a 3A private school in Tennessee.

I really dont care if that's fair, or isnt. But like I said, the WR actually looks pretty good. Just not sure about the fat boy or the munchkin QB we are looking at from our awesome pipeline.

Josh Smith was the 12th best athlete at the recent Nike Combine in Atlanta that hosted some top talent.

Well, your old home board is infested with the football challenged jerks. I knew better than to post over there again, but had some friends there like Phil, Clint, shooter, tater, etc.
Am living for the day when they eat not crow, but crow shitzz.

There are some great guys there, but the place became infested with wild-eyed moonbats. They live for being "anti" anything.

I sure hope that we land Jalen Ramsey from Brentwood Academy. He was the top overall athlete at the Nike Combine.

Ok Texie, how about Jordy Nelson? Or those two brothers that played for Texas?

BTW, I see you ventured over to the internet home board of the Legion of the Defeated.
J. Nelson and the Shipley's

This kid is bigger meaning taller - and faster than all 4 of the guys you mentioned. The Shipley's have some advantages - sons of a damned good HS coach - and play the game tough.

Nelson was fun to watch at KSU - a terror on the field. J. Shipley sent what 6 years at Texas - the first 4 wrecked with injuries, and encouraged to give up football for that reason - finished well - and was a damned fine kick returner. The younger Shipley does a great job getting open and catching the ball - as a true freshman.

People tend to forget what a runt Welker was - short and slow - I think his best 40 time was 4.65. Tough, tough, tough, and made all the catches..

Rivals just came out with a ranking for him, and gave him an unimpressive 5.4 (2-star). They also posted a video (the one upon which they likely did their evaluation), and it was likewise unimpressive.

Oddly, in the competitions and in the evaluations, Smith is turning in some good numbers (his SPARQ scores are more consistent with players in the 4* range), and his stats from last year are very impressive. He was quoted as saying just after his Vol offer:
Quote:

"They were shocked at how I did at camp," Smith said. "They were impressed by my forty time and my vertical leap. They said that I blew the doors off of them. They were really happy with how I did and I was excited."

But, in the film I saw, he never separated himself speed-wise from defenders ... but he caught balls thrown to him and he broke a lot of tackles. Still, overall, he indeed looked like a 2-star or low 3-star in those film clips. I'm confused, but I have a feeling that the film isn't telling all the story here.

He looked great in the state championship game against Milan, but Milan looked like they had never seen a forward pass thrown. Smith made some remarkable catches though.

Trust me, Milan may be the No. 1 traditional power over here in West Tennessee. They had some speed in their secondary last season. Their corch is a protege' of Henry County's James Counce. CAK did not beat chopped liver in the championship game. Milan under appreciated Charlie High and his receivers. They are traditionally an eight near the box team.

Fans need to take a breath and see what the Florida Gators did. They just took a 2 star WR's commit via the same circumstance as Josh Smith's commitment. A local high school kid who tore it up at their camp. Outstanding camp in front of coaches , offered and committed.

Trust the coaches to be much better evaluators than young guys who make a living selling you subscriptions online. Their experience is normally taken from their days as internet gossipers on various message boards..

I'm with Rev on this guy. He just doesn't look impressive on film. But I have complete faith in Coach Dooleys ability to evaluate personnel, I am glad we got him.
