Paty Summitt Steps Down - Holly Warlick Is The New Head Coach WOW!!!!! I ad been told by the closest of sources to Pat that she would not step down this year and that Holly Warlick was not under consideration when Pat did step down. It seems to me that Pat used all of her influence to get her hand-picked replacement and then step down. I wonder how heated it may have gotten behind the scenes. |

Head coach emeritus............... what is that? A position created just to keep her on the payroll???? Squeeze that tit dry........... And Holly is a worse floor coach than Summitt. Oh well, who gives a crap anyway. |

Let's give the athletes credit for taking care of business which one would expect since they didn't have to spend any time on the court learning a half court offense during their time at UT. In fact, 95 perent of Pats recruits got worse offensively under her guidance. |

It's pretty telling that we can't make the final four but two of the first four wnba picks were lady vols. I would imagine that Holly will be given the chance to run things completely instead of the mess they had last year. I should help with recruiting that it's resolved (and I wonder if coach emeriti (?) are allowed to recruit??). They could bring Pat in as the closer if she's having a lucid day. I'm not expecting big things out of Holly.....hopefully I'll be surprised..... |

Offense wasn't her thing when it came to basketball. So many of her peers realize that she was instrumental in bringing collegiate women's basketball to the national stage and have expressed that over the last day or so. When she started at UT the powers in women's basketball were Delta State, La Tech and Old Dominion and that was it. With her regular success others started to notice and programs were upgraded. Stanford and Rutgers were about the first to come along after the afore mentioned three. I hand it to her, she is one of a kind. She admired Yow and Stringer. She didn't want the women's game to become corrupt like the men's collegiate game and I think that was one of the reasons she took the stand with Gino. She ran a clean program and her program gave meaning to the term "Student Athlete". She was able to pick her own successor. Wonder how that will work out? |
