Tennessee lands Georgia combo guardEric BossiRivals.com Basketball Recruiting AnalystTalk about it in Basketball Recruiting BoardLast summer, Tennessee was very intrigued with Armani Moore. However, the Vols were unsure if they needed another wing.Fast forward to Tuesday, Cuonzo Martin and his staff have decided that they can't wait any longer and landed a commitment from Moore.A 6-foot-4 combo guard at Kennesaw (Ga.) Mt. Paran Christian, Moore had a big senior season. More of a natural two with athleticism, he is good enough off of the bounce to slide over and play some at the point guard position. The three-star prospect ran with Hoop Planet during the summer. He joins a recruiting class that already includes juco forward D'Montre Edwards and three-star small forward Derek Reese. Five-star Jarnell Stokes, of course, arrived on campus early.

I expect two players on the current roster to leave. Not sure which ones right now, but there are at least three candidates to depart. Tennessee is still recruiting a big man and if they were to land him, they would need two freed up schollys. Also remember, they have a transfer from Clem's Son who is a point guard and will be eligible at the semester break next winter.

A Very Manly Man

There aren't many real options....those that won't be leaving:

1)Stokes
2)Golden
3)McCrea
4)Richardson
5)Yemi
6)Maymon
7)Bossi
8)Edwards
9)Reese
10)McBee
11)Stanton (assuming he goes on scholarship next year)

That leaves two spots for Washpun, Miller, Hall & Chievous

Assuming that Hall is going to stay (from a talent perspective he's certainly a keeper) that leaves three fighting for one spot. My guess is that if Hall stays then Miller goes. The tough one is between Washpun and Chievous as I've never seen Chievous play.....but heaven knows we've got PLENTY of 6'5" 2/3's with three more coming in this year....so my guess is that Washpun stays and they send him off to dribbling school and Chievous goes elsewhere.

We do really need another big guy...not so much for 2013 but for 2014, so if we can get one, I suspect that Washpun will be hitting the road also. In reality, he's never going to be a top tier point guard anyway, imo.

Da'Rick Roger's high school coach, was the football coach where Armani Moore played basketball and football in high school. He said that Moore is as good as Rogers as a wide receiver and could play WR in college at any school in the country. That is the kind of athlete we are getting in Moore.

Listen to some talking heads discuss possible departures from the UT hoops program.

They said that Wes Washpun is likely to leave as is Dwight Miller and possibly Kenny Hall.

That is two open schollies for sure in addition to the open scholly left by Woolridge's departure. If Kenny Hall is gone, we will pick up yet another spot.

The problem is they are just going to get replaced by their twin brothers. We just beat C of C out for a player, these are the types of teams we are recruiting against. It won't get it done. Most of our key players are Pearl recruits who were 4 star players coming out of HS. Not 2 stars that he beat the Citadel out for. No doubt Cuonzo can teach and implement a system, and he seams to have nice control of his team and his players buy in. But the one thing making me skeptical if he can be a big time coach is recruiting. I don't think we'll be better than a middle of the pack SEC team if we don't start getting better players and so far it don't seem things are changing.
