The Ole Miss big guys neutralized Maymon and Stokes, they were much more athletic and even when we got the ball inside we fumbled it or had it blocked or partially blocked. So we were left with throwing up three pointers all night long. And when we needed Golden to step up at crunch time he refused to drive to the basket or even take an outside shot from the five minute mark in regulation though overtime he took a total of two shots in that 10 minute span. I want him driving to the basket at crunch time not passing it to Tatum (4-13) or McRae (0-8). McRae was atrocious on both ends of the floor. I always expected this was an NIT team so I am not disappointed in how this season ended. We just need better players to compete and win consistently. And the worst thing to happen to Tatum was him making his first two shots and thus thinking he was Michael Jordan for the rest of the game. Stokes played like the youngster that he is and that game experience will serve him well next year. Oh, and the refs let the Ole Miss big guys throw their shoulder to clear out the defender all night long without a call and they thus scored consistently in the paint. Nasty game to watch and our interior defense SUCKED.............
+1--Great post!
But playing the what if game just for the sake of it and not to be critical at all of CCM. What if Tennessee had played some zone in the second half. Henry would not have been able to bull with that shoulder, hell, one time he took his right arm and pushed off the defender and still got the call going his way on the late three point play. What if SwiperBoy had been given a chance in the second half. Could he have "gone off" like he did at Kentucky when he nailed five treys in the first half? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, McRae couldn't throw it in the ocean last night from a row boat in the middle of the Atlantic.
Also missed free throws killed UT. Frankly, they didn't deserve to win the game, Ole Piss wanted it more and they got it. The call at the end was astonishing, as Tux said it was right in front of the ref's face and Henry's head even recoiled when the ball busted him in the chin. I had rather lose to, well, Austin Peay than Ole Piss in any sport. And frankly, those early losses, in the final analysis, have kept UT out of the tourney just as much as last night's game did.
Spot on......We layed too many eggs early in the season and UT should NEVER....NEVER....EVER..go into the SECT having to win games to get to the dance because the SECT is where we lay the BIGGEST EGG 99.6 % of the time.

And I'm beginning to think CCM would rather lose than play a zone....Ole Piss was the perfect team to play some zone against.
