It is almost certain that our Vols will play in a post-season tournament. Will they get into the NCAA Tournament? Or will they play in the NIT? What will we have to do in order to make it into the NCAA Tournament? My guess is that we would have to beat Vanderbilt on Saturday and get a win in the SEC Tournament maybe two.. That would put us into the SEC Semifinals. |

I honestly don't think we'll go the ncaa's unless we win the SEC tournament. Without that, I suspect that our RPI is going to be outside of 40 and with all the automatic bids and stuff, it really needs to be under 40 in order to feel somewhat secure. Just too many bad losses at the beginning to overcome. I hope I'm wrong..... |

But, if the Vols finish their last 10 regular season games 9-1 ... and end up the #2 SEC seed in the tournament, ahead of Vandy and Florida ... there's still some glimmer of NCAA hope. |

I hope you're right....but I'm not sure how you close out is going to resonate with the selection committee. It would certainly be a pleasant surprise....and as a 12 seed or so....they could do some damage....... |

Here's about all I can tell you about NCAA basketball this season, specifically with UT and the NCAA tournament. I dont know if they make it or not, but if they do they are not going to be a very high seed. So if they make it in, whatever team draws UT is going to be unhappy about having to play them in round 1. |

In the past, the NCAA Selection Committee has stated that they place an emphasis on what the teams do heading down the stretch. Did they win a lot? Did they lose a lot of games? Our team is a hot team and has won some big games down the stretch. If we can beat Vandy and take the #2 seed in the SEC Tournament, I would hope that they would look at the SEC as being a decent league. T finish 18-13 before the EC Tourney does not look grewat, but a 10-6 SEC record does offer a glimmer of hope. Win a game in the SEC Tourney and we go to 19-13. |

N.I.T. ............. Which isn't half bad, we could win a few games and it's good exposure and a fun trip to NYC for the guys, they deserve it for working their butts off on defense. |
