The really scary part of the loss today was that Bama's two best players were suspended. The two quick fouls on Stokes sat him down for 15 minutes in the first half and the Vols simply couldn't get over the hump in the second half. I hope they make the NIT but this team simply has no business in the NCAA tournament this season. BTW, McThree and Sleepy Tatum were awful today.

That was an NIT effort. Bammer shoudl get credit for playing some very good defense...pressing us where Fl or Arky couldn't...but when your point guard has more turnover than assists...it's going to be a long day. I was screaming for them to get the ball inside where we had a clear advantage....but it was just one of those games. I think we win all the rest besides Vandy.......we could make a purty good NIT run.... |

+1 It will be good for the returning players to participate in a post season tournament and who knows, if they make the NIT and get on a roll, they might get to see the Statue of Liberty. I hope the point guard who transferred in from Clem's Son can handle the position, but don't think he will be eligible to play until the semester break next season. |

Hall being out hurt our depth as did the two quick fouls on Stokes. Yemmi did not show much while he was in. I thought it was a poor game plan and poor coaching adjustments. Honestly, while we kept jacking up the three's all day long I thought Bruce snuck back in. If I were Cuonzo I would have demanded we continue to go inside the whole second half. We had a few of their bigs in foul trouble AND they were not stopping us so a double win there. The other thing they failed to adjust to was the press. Some poor passes hurt as did the steals when they surrounded Golden and either took it or we turned it over. And someone needs to teach Golden how to dribble. That chest high dribble and hesitation he has are killing us when trying to get the ball up court. I also thought the refs were late on several calls against the Tide and missed some as well. |
