As good as we were in the first half, we were almost as bad in the second half. Our ball handling and entry passes were awful. We played a smaller line up in the second half to attack Arkansas's zone. We have won 6 of our last 8 games, four in arow and are 6-5 in SEC play and 14-12 overall. |

We made some poor decisions with several passes in the second half as well as a few 3's that were launched too quickly when we should have been running clock. But still a win by that margin is a great one against an SEC foe. Early in the year we would probably have folded when the cut into the lead in the second half but this team has improved in that and other areas. I do think we will really miss Hall on Sat against Alabamastan. |

A Very Manly Man

Arky switched to a zone....and we started standing around....and it killed our rythm all over the court. But the good news is that we've fought back that last three games and runs against us were survived. I'm really liking Martin's magic dust right now....I can't think of a single player not named Cam Tatum who hasn't shown dramatic improvement. Martin stuck with his man D...and now it's outstanding. Martin stuck by his shooters and now they're hitting threes. Martin benched McCrea until he started playing D and now he's playing D. Martin sat Golden to help his get perspective on how to be a more effective point guard, and he was really productive the next two games....his two best of the year - actually running the team. Hall's suspension is too bad....maybe. It didn't seem to have any impact last night.....but Arky's not that strong underneath. The bigger point is that the players will know who's in charge and hopefully Halls transgression isn't fatal. If we can get a first game bye and be on the other side of the bracket from KY.....we could have a very good tournament. |
