Vols Continue Dominance Of Gators

The Vols continued our dominance of Florida.

We have improbably, swept the Gators in a year when nobody in their right minds would have guessed it.

Our big men took the Gators big men out of the game right from the start.

Maymin was a beast on defense and Kenny Hall owned the boards in the first half. McRae had a great first half and disappeared in the second half for the second game in a row.

I was a big Pearl fan. To his credit, he recreated the interest in the UT basketball program among our fans.

Cuonzo Martin is proving to be a great hire. He is a great teacher of the fundamentals of the game. You can not fault our guys' effort.

If Cuonzo can recruit some solid point guards and some tall swing players, our team could be dangerous down the road.

If you look at our schedule, we should win about 4 or so of our remaining games. That would get us into the NIT for sure. Win 5 games and then win a couple of SEC Tourney games and all of a sudden we are at 20 wins. Who knows, the Tourney Selection Committee might like what they have seen out of this team down the stretch.

This is Martin's biggest win yet.....

I have to say, the Gators are really soft. Even that big center seems to spend more time whining than playing. I just don't see how they've won so many games.

UT posts played their best game of the year...and most of the work went un-noticed as they worked underneath for post up and rebound position. Golden had one of his most "point guard" like games and McCrea is actually playing effective defense and integrating himself into the offense instead of trying to be the offense.

If you take the above mentioned items, they were the ones that most felt were necessary for UT to be a good team, so see now know that our potential can be realized.

20 wins??? I seriously doubt it and most road games will still be pretty dicey and it wouldn't shock me if we lost to Vandy at home, but as long as we play defense like we did yesterday we'll be in those games. Can we close?

This team has taken on its coachs' personality. The other team may score more points, but they don't push us around. Stokes swagger just is just the icing on the cake.

The way they play defense is a welcomed addition. I will always love having Pearl here at TN for all the good he accomplished, but hopefully Martin will work out and he'll meet my yearly goal of 20 wins and a NCAA tourney berth every year.

Interesting statistic, Billy Donavan has won two national titles and has a winning record against every school in the SEC except one, Tennessee. He is now 16-17 vs. the Vols during his stay at Florida.
