A Very Manly Man

This is a big win for us for several reasons. First of all, any win is a big win right now....but more importantly the defense finally showed up in the second half and did a great job. Golden looked a little more like a point guard...and "shudder"...we actually went zone for a little bit (this team is going to have to play zone some this year, unless we're planning on benching Golden). Several players stepped up...of particular note was Swiper, who used his guard skills, mobility and size to score inside and out. McRea sat a lot and McBee played the two. Honestly and somewhat surprisingly, McBee's defense was very good. We saw more of Washpun, who isn't a shooter, but he give us a shot of energy and good things seem to happen when he's involved. Cam had his best game of the year....but he'll never be a go to guy....it's just not in his nature..... It's become clear that the emotional leader for this team is going to have to be Maymon. He was really fired up in the second half and it became contagious. The next few games are at home against teams that are far worse than UNC Ashville, which is really a pretty good team, and they will be just what the doctor ordered. |

When I saw JP Prim was on their team, I knew we were in trouble. I have watched him for several years @ RTL, and he is a lights out shooter. If they had made a concerted effort to get him shots in the second half we could not have won. |
