Bruce Pearl was successful in his short run at UT, but he left a toilet bowl of turds as a parting gift to UT and new coach, Cuonzo Martin. This team is a selfish team that refuses to help one another and is full of individuals who worry about their own points. Our guard play is awful and our big men play timid. I will be surprised if we win four more games this season. Thanks for the toilet bowl full of turds Bruce. Edited by TennesseeTuxedo, Dec 14 2011, 10:40 PM.

A Very Manly Man

I disagree. There is plenty of talent, but it's just got to mesh. Our biggest problem IS at guard. Neither of our starters are very good on defense and Golden is NOT effective at running the team. I don't find our bigs timid at all. In reality, they're hackmasters. The Nigerian played six minutes at Charleston. In that time he got three rebound and three fouls....hardly a wilting lilly performance. At that rate over forty minutes, he'd have 20 rebounds and 20 fouls!!! Hall never met a man he didn't want to foul. What this team needs is some discipline and some team leadership. If Cam Tatum is probably a fine young man...it sounds like he's really learned from his issue a couple of years ago...and graduated.....but he's just NOT the guy who's going to get in your face and tell you to get your head out of your rectum. We look and play like a really young team and we fade out in the second half as we lose focus....letting inferior talent make us look bad. This year will be rocky at least for a while. I do expect to see us play much better as we go along...unfortunately the competition will be much better as well. Edit: The biggest reason I hold out hope is that there are stretches...normally in the first half....where we look really good. We, as a team, need to learn how to extend that effort over forty minutes. Edited by JollyVolly, Dec 16 2011, 10:27 AM.

People can say "we have x number of top 100 recruits", but the fact remains that we do not have a ligitimate point guard and a legitimate low post option. Top teams in the nation have a legit point guard , decent back up at the point, a low post option with a hacker to back him up, and some good shooters. Every team needs to have role players, but this team seems to preoccupied with scoring their fair share of points, rather than working as a team. Every team needs a couple of guys whop are adept at setting picks and working the paint hard. Every team needs a shooter, and a guy who get the ball to where it needs to be to set up the scorers. This team at times does worry too much about scoring their own points when we get leads and that lull has lead to us getting beaten out by inferior teams. |
