This is going to be a long long winter of basketball discontent.

We held a 12 point lead and the team just went into hibernation. They got away from the offense and started free-lancing, throwing the ball away, and playing "ole!" defense under the bucket.

Austin Peay hit everything down the stretch and walked away a winner at TBA.

Yes, mighty Govs elevate their record to a sparkling 2-9 with the victory over a team that gave, perhaps, one of the great half assed efforts in the history of Tennessee basketball. How many fans do you think will show up for the games against Citadel and UT Chattanooga. And will the Mocs have more fans in the building than Tennessee?

A Very Manly Man

It was a hard game to watch....even before we melted down at the end, we stank up the place. I think this starts at the point guard....Golden, who started out with an amazing game, has shown to be a 2 guard in a point guard's suit. Honestly, except for scoring, he's not much better than Washpun, so when he doesn't score, he's worse because Washpun is light years better on defense. Wes has the speed and heart to recover from mistakes while Golden just doesn't. It's not his fault, he just doesn't have quick enough feet.

I'm not going to cry all is lost....but clearly the defense is not good and we REALLY need to explore a zone at least some of the time to stop these dribble drives that we can't seem to stop while in a man. You can say....well, AP was shooting out of their rear end at the end.....but we're the ones that gave them the confidence that an upset was possible.

Hopefully this will be a wake up call that we can't play D just part of the time. I don't how to fix the point guard thing except to just play Washpun more and more, shift Golden to the two, McRea and Richard to the 3 and sit Cam. I'm not sure I'd notice if he's playing or not........
