We could not find a way to win this one. We took Tiger High to double overtime. I only saw both overtime sessions. Jeronne Maymon had 32 pints and 20 rebounds today, less than 24 hours after playing Duke. He was the Hoss of the Glass today. Tre Golden had a miserable day as he hit on 3 of 20 shots today. We threw the ball away a couple of times in the fiorst overtime and that prevented us from winning the game. We had a 3 point lead and Maymon threw pass straight to a Tiger High defender 8 feet away. Reminded me of the 1982 Georgetown National Championship game, where the GT player passed it straight to the opponent. Washpun and Richardson have some serious talent and once they develop, should be solid ball players. This team has to learn how to close games when the outcome is on the line. Until they do, we will not win a lot of close games. |

We had it won in regulation , up two with the ball and less than 40 seconds left when Crazy Cam decided to be a star a throw up a clunker from thirty feet.

Golden played out of control both offensively and defensively along with Tatum. He was throwing up wild shots the entire game, never seen one guy be so terrible for the entire game. Someone needs to tell him he is no Michael Jordan. Well coached team again today and they gave the kittens all they could handle after a lethargic first half defensively. CMM is a much better coach than Pearl and that is very evident. Maymon has some serious talent and will be a force the entire season. Love the man to man defense and the motion offense is delightful to watch after watching Pearl's teams throw up clunkers at the 3 second mark. |

It's a learning process for Golden. He's got to learn not to force the action, particularly against double teams. He's got to learn to play defense, even when his man doesn't have the ball. Memphis is very athletic and long and Golden needed to be the team leader....not the team's high scorer. He'll get it. He's more inclined to think he has some more options to score now. We DID hand that game over, as if we take better care of the ball, run clock and take good shots down the stretch..we win. BUT the improvement of Washpun has been remarkable. What I thought was a lack of skills....must have been a case of jitters and he's starting to move forward now instead of dancing around in circles when he has the ball. I honestly think that Richardson is better, all round, than McCrea right now. He's not going to make some amazing drive, but he's going to not turn over the ball so much and play much better D. That three down the stretch was not a freshman like shot. We've got a winner in Martin. I get what he's doing (not putting the clamps on Hall / not crapping his pants at the wild shots) as he builds these guys up. We've now played two top ten teams to the wire on a nuetral court....and we lose one player at the end of the year. The curtains may just stay open....... |

Oh yeah...Maymon. The guy just gets better every game. He played HARD the entire game and the stat line shows. If we can wake Hall up from his hacking slumber and get a good 25 minutes a game from him, our inside play should be OK. I love to watch the nigerian play defense, but Maymon's not going to score 30 every game..... |
