Vols anxious for exhibition opener against Carson-Newman

The starting line-up will be Kenny Hall at center, Jeronne Maymon at power foward, Cam Tatum at the wing, Jordan McRae at shooting guard, and Trae Golden at the point.

The scuttlebutt is that we will play a very physical defense protecting the low post.

A Very Manly Man

That should be a top forty lineup...perhaps better - all these starters are top 75 high school players. Our depth inside is scary, but I'm not ready to roll over and say that this season will be a complete bust if the defense can keep us in games.

The big question for me is how much better these guys will be now that they are the "guys".

Golden - has supposedly swapped fat for muscle and is much quicker and much more confident with his shot
McRea - has he grown up? He's a very talented player - I thing Martin is a perfect fit for this guy
Tatum - is he ready to be a leader. He was the biggest disappointment last year as he would simply disappear for long stretches. Was this because we had too many other good players OR just his personality?
Maymon - The first time I saw him play I was very impressed (against Charlotte - saw it in person), but he seemed to regress and I just don't think Pearl's system was a good match for his skills. He's got a good knack for picking up junk under the basket - he's got to get more aggressive on defense
Hall - can he thrive without fouling out before the national anthem? If Maymon can be a defensive force, Hall will need to be an offensive force and he has the tools, if he can just stay on the floor.

Most Important Reserver - Washpun - I'm most interested in watching this guy and see if he can give Golden ten minutes of blow.
