I predict that Jacques Smith will have 3 sacks, 2 blocked passes, and a tackle for loss. Anthony Anderson will catch 2 TD passes I also predict that Lanier will return an 97 yd int for TD but it will get called back due to a block in the back by Austin Johnson way over on the other side of the field away from play. Tn will win 41-14 but the score will be 21-14 at halftime |

Same thing that happens every year. We'll win & we'll win big. Which will set off the following chain reactions on chit chat. 1. Tyler Bray for heisman 2. Obnoxious fans positive that that The Gators will have their hands full with us this year. 3. We'll learn that at one player is injured & out for the season. 4. John Adams will write a sneering article on Sunday giving the kicking team & coaches an A-. 5. Chit chat fans will swear that they'll "never buy the Sentinel again". 6. OM will post a thread poking fun at VC. 7. Indianvol will maintain his pragmatism toward VC & tell us his opinions on recruiting needs after 1 game. 8. Leggo will show up claiming he knew all along D'D was a great hire. 9. I'll make a correct analysis of some part of the game that Tux will claim I can't possibly know because I've never played the game. And last but not least, 10. The jumbotron sucked thread will pop up on every UT fan site. Same shit, different day. |

I think that Montana will give our defense some trouble early on. Our freshmen linebackers may struggle with their keys in front of a big opening day crowd against Montana's spread offense. I agree with almost everything that Chef posted. Give her heaps of credit. She is on the nose and that speaks volumes for someone who never played the game. :wilkerson: |

Montana has, I believe 7-10 seniors on defense ... and these guys are from cattle country, so they are big with an all-american corner and (I believe) a 4*star on the line. I think that they will not be so easy to bend. Their offense is much less experienced, with questions at QB and RB ... but the line has much experience, as does the WRs and TEs. They run a hurry-up spread offense, like Oregon, and that gave us some fits last year (hopefully, our speed will compensate). If they need to go to more of a passing game, they have Nate Montana (Joe's son) who transferred in there after getting kicked from Notre Dame and some other school because he liked granny's XXX stuff a little too much. Prediction: Vols 62-27 ... Poole gets under 100 yards rushing, Bray gets 3 TDs and 1 int ... D gets 6 sacks ... Palardy injures his groin on the first extra point, doesn't tell the coaches, and returns to kick offs that can't get past the 10. Edited by OrangeRev, Aug 30 2011, 09:07 AM.

I don't think Montana will see the field and the two other quarterbacks are inexperienced also. I foresee a rash of turnovers (5) by their offense and for our running game to total a couple hundred yards. They do have a very good cornerback (# 2) Tremaine Johnson that will do a good job covering one of our wideouts. Should be a easy win, a game to knock off the rust before Cincinnati comes to town. |

I predict that I'm not going to get to see the game. I'll be taping it, as I'm roped into going to see the South Carolina / ECU game here in Charlotte that evening. We're going with friends and everybody but me is a cock. Our company owns a parking lot near the stadium....great for tailgating. I hope the game is entertaining...as I'm no fan of either team. Finally around midnight or so, I'll get to settle down and watch UT play. I think we'll win by 17 points......say 41 to 24. |

I predict I'll be out on the boat in the Gulf of Mexico when the game kicks off, and I may or may not try to watch it on my phone. As far as a score prediction: we'll either beat them by 50 points or lose straight up a-la appy state/michigan. I'm going to the former. I'm not making any other predictions because of the conversation we were having earlier: the only predictions I can make regarding Tennessee football, after the last half decade we have had, are bad ones. I fully expect terrible news every time the name "Volunteers" is mentioned, so my predictions would follow accordingly. Incidentally: South Carolina. They are my adopted SEC team that isnt UT. Mainly because A) they arent Alabama, B) they arent Auburn, C) They arent Florida, and D) they arent Georgia. Bonus points for E) My wife's entire extended family is from, and still lives in, South Carolina and they are all huge USC fans...and they are pretty fun to be around when USC does anything other than lose. |

Zip, I like your take on SC. Some would argue that it's Steve Spurrier, but I still pull for SC too. |

Yeah, Steve Spurrier is probably part of it, too. I'm a closet Spurrier fan. |

I don't really like south carolina....but I do like their fans. What a loyal bunch that hasn't been given back much in return. I go to Columbia every other year to watch the UT game there....and they are all pleasant and humble and very nice. Where in SC is your wife's family from zip? My wife's family is from a little town called Lake City, which is about halfway between Columbia and Myrtle Beach on HWY 378. |
