There are a few number 2s on that list that ... well... arent actually number two. For example: Rod Wilks. If Brewer goes down, Wilks isnt going in to replace him. Also: Darrin Gooch. He may be the number two 'center', but if stone goes down the OL starts playing musical chairs before they swap in Gooch (he's terrible). |

I'm not sure where you got this Tux, but Zip is right. There are some things with your number 2's that I think are not quite right ... things are in a lot of flux with the #2s, but ... At TE, Downs is ahead of Clear At C, Bullard is behind Stone ... I'm pretty sure Gooch is now a guard. And as Zip said, I don't think Wilks is on the 2-deep ... I think Moore is the #2 SS,and Waggoner moves over to FS if there is backup to Jackson. Edited by OrangeRev, Aug 23 2011, 11:34 AM.

I think Gooch is...well, I think Gooch is (or should be) glad he's still on scholarship. Good kid and a good warm body-type, but he's not an SEC-quality offensive lineman. |

That is the same depth-chart that is on Volquest. I believe the coaches are just giving the back ups some love. Bullard would be the first to fill an O-Line spot if a starter went down, with Schofield taking his LG spot. I don't think any of the other back-up spots are for sure settled. I think the coaches will wait and see who rises to the occasion on game day. |

Moore is not playing safety anymore, he is a cornerback/nickle back now. Along with Maggitt and Austin Johnson, Wilks has been among the three most productive players in the two major scrimmages. Gooch may not be the true backup at center, but when you move a starter to another position, you are then replacing two guys instead of one. |

If Moore isnt the number 2 strong safety, which he likely is not, someone else is...and it aint Wilks. Much more likely to see someone like Waggner slide over from corner and drop in Coleman in his place than seeing Wilks step anywhere near the field for meaningful (meaning: we arent winning or losing by more than 14 in the 4th) minutes. Also: when you slide someone over, you are NOT replacing two guys. You are replacing two positions, but still only replacing one guy. In Stone's place, I'm not sure how much we lose there by replacing him with Bullard...nor am I sure how much we lose in replacing Bullard with Schoefield. Certainly much less than we lose by putting in Gooch, who is...the worst center to ever start at UT. I really dont like speaking negatively about UT players and I dont do it lightly, I'd sugar coat it if I could but the kid actually had me missing Brent Gibson last year. I'm no expert ... but Hubbs has said that Moore is learning corner, safety and nickel ... and that he is not on the 2-deep at corner, but that he is on the 2-deep at safety. So, that's all I have. |

Don't get caught up in seeing certain guys at one position and not seeing another at multiple positions. That is just how depth charts work in the preseason. It keeps players motivated to see their names in the 2 and 3 deep depth charts. If a player is injured, some are in a position to step up and others slide over from another position, as previously mentioned. |
