If you go back to signing day we were very excited to have two JC transfers who we thought could make an immediate impact. Both have come in out of shape and instead of impact players we can only hope for them being role players. You can usually get that out of the right true freshman these days. Maybe not at DT and I think we may sign another JC DT if we find the right one, but with the JC track record it's hard to tell if it will do any good. Remember two years ago we had hope for John Brown and he didn't even make it in school. Perhaps he would have been out of shape if had qualified. It's just mind boggling that these freshman out of HS can show up in shape but these JC guys can't. Maybe that explains why they are JC guys to begin with. Another thought: Does anyone remember the 83' season when we moved DB Clyde Duncan from DB to WR and he went on to be a 1st round draft pick? I have a feeling Anthony Anderson maybe able to be another Clyde Duncan. He has the speed and athletic ability. He never has been able to put it together at the DB position, but let's see what he can do at WR. He seems to be off to a good start from what we're reading. |

We've had lots of JC's do quite well, but it's a crapshoot. Even moreso than hs players in my opinion as there's a reason they are in JC to start with and that's that on some level they weren't able to meet standards that most players can....and often that's because of a real lack of motivation. |
