Miami Vices

Why Miami Is In Trouble

Nevin Shapiro Spent Millions On Recruits
Quote:

Perez said Shapiro, 42, has given the NCAA the names of "well over a dozen but less than 100" former football players who accepted his gifts.
If Miami does not get the death penalty for this, then the NCAA might as well get rid of the penalty and go out of business.

This guy was buying prostitutes for the players every night, paying for an abortion for one player's one night stand at a strip club, daily yacht excursions that took $2,000 just to fill up the gas tank each day, jewelry for the players and their girlfriends. Miami squad was bought and paid for all of these years.

Nick Saban’s last two hires, offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and director of football operations Joe Parrunzio, were both hired from Miami and were both implicated by Shapiro.

Will Miami be the 14th team in the SEC?

I can't help but think that this may have been the biggest reason why Seantrel Henderson went to Miami ... daddy got his payday.

I think it may have been at least a small possibility before, but not a very big one (same for GT, FSU, Clemson, etc) since I really dont expect to see the SEC expand in a state that is already represented by at least one member team. I dont doubt teams like Alabama, Auburn, UM, MSU...even Tennessee and Vandy...dont have any sympathy since they already share their states with another SEC schooll. I just dont see it happening. That was before I read about this, now Miami is probably the least likely football team in America to get added to the SEC.
