I'm hearing all these names. Justin Coleman,AJ Johnson, Magget, Christan Harris, Byron Moore. All 5 didn't play here last year. How bennificial to have all these newbies to help out. Plus you have Jacques Smith coming back from injury, him and Corey Miller are both a year older and a year stronger. Is there a chance this D could be a lot better than people expect? Or am I having delusions? |

depth and experience are still a problem on D, but should be significantly improved over last year. Assuming Wilcox can actually coach that is, which I'm still not sure of. |

I believe the Defense will have at least 3 true FR starters on opening day, Coleman, AJ Johnson and C Maggit. I believe it could have as many as 5 new players if B Moore and M Couch pan out to be as good as advertised (so far they have not broken the starting line-up). |

If we have two of our three starting LB's as true freshmen, our D is in trouble. I realize that both Johnson and Maggit are SEC caliber, but a few weeks of Fall camp is way too little experience ... I think that perhaps one of them starts but not both. As for Coleman, that's entirely possible that he starts at CB, or at a minimum he is the nickle-back. |

So who would they put in AJ or Maggit's place, Vereen at 5'11" and 210 lbs? |

We will be better than last year...and we won't wear out in the second half so often as we're deeper. But if we're going to surprise the hell out of anybody....we're going to have to stay healthy. Lathers will be playing by mid september...hopefully in time for Florida..... |

Really I thought Lathers was due back in Oct? I hope you are right. Either way it will take some time for him to get back in playing shape and I think the FR LBs will play a lot of ball by then. |

Freshman LB's will create some negative and positive drama. I'd rather have players talented and inexperienced, that vice versa. I'm feeling smart right now as I started this post before the scrimmage. Of course I know the D is usually ahead at this point anyway, but the way Maggit dominated today and A.J Johnson is looking good too, that's a very good sign. I thought LB was clearly this teams weakest link. |
