Manning was claiming that he did not want to be the highest paid player in the NFL and that he was going to leave money on the table for the Clots to use to go get some better free agents. Well his deal was a 5 year $90 million deal, which is front loaded to pay him $23 a season for the first three years of the deal and $10.5 million for each of the final two seasons. Do you think he is going to play two seasons for $10.5 million? He hasn't played for that low amount in years. It tells me that Manning os shooting for playing 3 more years and then hanging it up. It also tells me that someone was doing some serious spinning. The Clots made it a 5 year deal and used the average numbers over the course of 5 years to come up with their "amount" of money that Manning left for the team to use towards the signing of free agents--sure, 4 years from now.

Ok you've seen what Irsay and Polian can do in acquiring players. With that in mind, would you leave money on the table for them to use at their discretion? I wouldn't. Now if it were the Pats - that's another story. He can't win another sb without a defense. So Peyton take the money. Pee on Irsay and Polian - those dumb s****. |

An article in today's paper said the contract was structured to enable the Colts to sign free agents. Now being structured and doing something half way intelligent with it by Irsay and Polain are two different things. |

The orginal line of thought was that it was going to take a $120 million contract to sign manning. If the Clots tagged Manning he would make $23.1 million this year. In essence he really saved the Clots $100,000. |
