Where there is smoke, there is fire. I have seen SCAD Eric Hyman's Name mentioned several times in conjunction with the UTAD job, in the past month or so, since Mike Hamilton stepped down. Hyman is not happy with his contract situation at South Carolina. Smoke is filling the air on both school campuses, so this sounds like ti could be our guy. The first question that I would ask is why does he want to leave SC. If he's unhappy with his contract, then why? My thought would be to restructure his contract if he is deserving. Maybe he isn't deserving. However, UT must not interview candidates in this manner based on its' past history. |

HYman has been a very good AD at South Carolina. I have no issue whatsoever with him or UT if he is hired. |

Can you give specfics on what he has accomplished during his stay in Colombia? Why hire someone's discard? Why not hire an "up and comer"? |

Look at where their football program was and where it is now. Look at their baseball program. If you were to go on campus, you would se the results of a great facility building program-all raised with a huge wave of fund-raising. His contract issues were that he wants a raise. He is the 3rd lowest paid AD in the SEC. |

Rumors that LSU AD Joe Alleva is in the mix and may have taken the job after Hyman has turned down UT. |

I'm not exactly doing cartwheels over a potential Joe Alleva hire. Afterall, LSU is facing potential trouble from the NCAA over the Willie Lyles contracts. |

Ok you answered my questions about Hyman. Now based on UT's ability to hire, does the LSU guy surprise you? |

Joe Alleva has pulled out of consideration at UT. I'd say that LSU upped his pay. |

Man alive, they go after a guy and let the word out on what they are doing and then the guy goes public with the decline. Seems like no one is interested in anything UT. Maybe they need to go after another UF guy. It is just another royal cluster f***. |

Hyman, Steve Orsini and Larry Cunningham are the three names dominating the UTAD search. This is a good bunch of candidates. Let's hope that the soon to be started, UNCAD search (Dick Baddour resigned today), does not muddy the water too much. |

Why is the list of potential candidates public knowledge? Leaks? Why? Supposedly UT hires a search firm to pursue potential candidates for the job and keep it underwraps in doing so, but like the negativity of the coaching searches from interviewed coaches who turned the job down, along comes the AD fiasco. No one should know who they are talking to. That's the reason for the search firm. If they can't do it underwraps, then UT should just go direct. |

I'm actually doing some work at the Athletic Village USC is building. It's going to be quite a place when it's done. My only complaint if I'm an athlete is that it's kind of tucked away- not real close to the stadium and not real close to the campus or the night time places of entertainment. That might be why it's where it is....... |

Agents leak it to reporters. Why? So that their clients then get into a bidding war between the school they are pursuing and their existing school, and that makes the contract bigger ... and the commission bigger. |
