I'm hearing the #6 WR in the country is going to commit to us tomorrow. His name is DeAnthony Arnett from Mississippi. |

Tux, I went away for 5 minutes and came back, I thought you would have the answer by now. I'll be back in about 2 more minutes. I can't wait to find out. This could be a momentum spark for our recruiting down the stretch! |

Read the recruiting section ... for example. http://s1.zetaboards.com/thevolunteeronline/topic/3919498/1/?x=50#new ;) The bottom line is that no one really knows for sure, but the majority (not all) of the recruiting experts feel he will commit because of Baggett. Edit: I should note that Arnett is a bit of a media hound. He tells schools what they want to hear to get them excited about him. So, if you go on USC boards, they all think he's committing to them ... the MSU boards think he is committing to them ... and the UT boards think he is committing to them. Publicly, he says "I just don't know who I'm committing to, but I'll figure it out by Wednesday." Following recruiting is not for the faint of heart. Edited by OrangeRev, Nov 9 2010, 01:10 PM.

I'm glad we are in a lot of talented RBs. I don't mean to talk negative, but we have no RB's on our team at all besides Pool. We could use as many as 3 RBs. |

I don't think we are "in" on any premiere running backs ... we are pursuing a few, and they are listening to us. But, at this point every one of them is a long shot. Wasonga seems most interested, but the Vol staff seems lukewarm on him at this point and much hotter on the other four. Edit: When I posted the Recruiting Big Board about 10 days ago, I didn't project any additional running backs on it ... not because the staff isn't pursuing them heavily, but at this point there doesn't seem to be a clear track to getting one to sign on NSD. But, this board could solidify within the next week since three of those "orange" names on there are in the recruiting news. Arnett announces on Wednesday (11/10), Couch might announce this weekend or next Monday (11/15), and there have been widespread rumors that DB King committed to UT at his school's morning assembly (11/9). Hubbs thinks that King's commitment is being held off by the Dooley staff at the moment, and (in essence) we don't have a love connection ... but it could be that Marcus' commitment to USCJr. yesterday (it was expected) has put King next in line. That's an area of need that I was expecting would be one going into the season. I remember in 99' we had a walkon back named Larry Biggers that was better than any back on this team besides Poole. |
