Tennessee Volunteers' Tyler Bray: Can He Be The Next Peyton Manning? Bray looks every bit as good if not better than P Manning was in his debut. It is ludicrous to compare the two and expect Bray to where Manning is now. it does make you wonder how good Bray could be? A lot depends on his approach to the game and his desire to get better. |

When you step back and realize that Peyton may go down as the greatest qb in the history of the NFL.....it's absurd to think that Bray could reach that level. I think Ole Miss will be a very good test for Bray at this point. I really like the way he is able to sense the rush, move his feet, set and throw. He's got the gun and he's got the accuracy. I'm really hoping for Bray to get as good as Ainge (without going through a sophomore funk and never again coming close to his potential until Cutty came back). Anything better than that is gravy..... |

It is hard not to be hopeful. First, the passing over the last two games just looks ... how do I say this without hype ... phenomenal for a true freshman. Second, he seems to grasp the "big picture" of what is playing out around him. Part of this is sensing the pocket situation, part of this is throwing off the defenders with fakes when needed, and part of this is reading the match-ups and trusting the receivers to overcome their defenders. But ... I assume the sacks will continue (but with a lower total than with Simms) ... and we'll see some interceptions ... hopefully the interceptions won't be as painful as the USC one. |

Tyler Bray had more than just a prayer in Memphis Of course, you can;t compare Bra to where Manning is at now. I stated that it was ludicrous to make that comparison. However, Bray looks to possess similar physical skills as Manning. In reality Manning did not become great until he got into the NFL, IMO. He was born to play QB and willingly took on the role and did everything that you would dream a QB would do. |

He can be pretty good. However, comparisons to Peyton are at this point beyond silly. Physically, they are similar in that they are both tall and skinny as rails as freshment...but the similarity pretty much begins and ends there. Peyton was much more mature, mentally, as a freshman than Bray is...and Bray has a much stronger arm than Peyton did. In a way, he has more potential than Peyton had....but less, because Bray wont sit and watch film for 4 hours a night every night for the rest of his life. Would have been nice for Bray to start out with the supporting case Peyton had as a freshman, though. Bray has better receivers, but Peyton had much better RB's (three that played in the NFL) and a MUCH better offensive line. |
