David Climer: Vols made right move in firing Phillip Fulmer

I say it was the right call. Fulmer's time had come and gone. Yes, the Vols won a national championship on his watch, but that was a full decade earlier. The program had grown stale. Something had to give.

It's silly to compare Auburn and Miss State in the article. I guarantee you that neither team has to deal with a jr and sr class that is as bad as ours.

Nice Title for the Article, but then Climber goes Cunt with his main body of work.

Its a fair comparison - the difference both MSU & Auburn didn't have a huge loss of players as Tennessee. Both Mullen and Chizik took what was left over from the prior HC's worked with'em - recruited, coached and living with the results. Tennessee had a comparable season - using primarily Fulmer recruits. Dooley comes along - further shedding of Fulmer recruits - as well as some of Kiffin's recruits - balanced with an influx of some supremely talented youngsters..

Also gotta admit Auburn hiring Chizik was roundly boooed by their own fans as well as guys around this place.. His first year at Auburn was shaky at best - won a few games - and recruited, coached, and built on that. Mullen - has winner written all over him - knows how to coach and a good recruiter. Mullen learned from a good one, both were key coaches for HC's who taught them what it takes to win in the SEC - week in and out.

Tennessee, MSU and Auburn are in their 2nd year of rebuilding. I don't believe Auburn or MSU are on any sort of 3 to 5 year rebuilding plan - NOR does Auburn & MSU have the lofty expectations as does Tennessee.

Good Heavens, Texie Pooh.....

Neither auburn or miss state has had three coached in the three years. Regardless of why it happened (and Dooley really hasn't run anybody off - except for a couple of head cases), our sr and jr classes suck. You can't blame Dooley that Fulmer didn't recruit worth a crap and you can't blame Dooley that Kiffin ran off players. Frankly discarding some of Fulmer's trash had to be done, regardless. Aub and MS don't have to be on a five year plan because they are already fully stocked with players.....obviously you know that it's going to take years for UT to get back to that point.

You saying that Auburn doesn't expect to win like UT does is really ignorant...just so you know.
