* C Mack Crowder is an EE ... good chance he might be a starter, with Stone at guard. * S Eddrick Lofton is an EE ... bet he starts in place of Brewer * I'm not even sure that Gumby Waggner will be in a dime package ... Pat Martin and Oliver might well pass him. * Not sure that Johnson starts at LB ... Probst and Crump may well pass him. * Couch, if he signs, might well be a DT starter Edited by OrangeRev, Nov 1 2010, 02:08 PM.

Lofton is almost certainly a starter the minute he steps on campus (weak side OLB may be in Brewer's future). Crowder too, if his competition is Gooch (at least...my god I hope he's better than Gooch). If we sign a warm body that weighs over 270lbs: he has a shot at starting DT if he can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. Yeah, I think we will have a few starters out of the next freshman class, too. Also: forgot about Malik, he will be back next year (and improved, he's starting to look pretty good now). We are going to be much better in 2011. May still go 7-5 but I doubt we give up 50 points per game and lose by 21+ several times next year. 2012 should be our year, if Dooley doesnt do anything then he's probably not going to. |

In Dooley's press conference today, he stated that he wants some bigger safeties, and that Brewer is still too small for him (he needs to put on 10-15 pounds to get to 215 or 220). You need big safeties to stop those SEC runners and receivers that get into the secondary. I would imagine that he also wants Jackson much bigger. Dooley is in love with Malik's play, but said that he is 30 pounds too light for his position. I got the feeling that Malik is considered the Vol's best linemen, and (in a jab at the pathetic state of things) said something to the effect, "he couldn't even get on the field at Southern Cal". Malik played quite a bit as a sophomore at USC. Our problem next year will still be the defense. |
