QB Change Imminent?

Dooley mum for now on QB situation

Dooley's MO, has been quick to come out and tell folks that Matt Simms is the starter, when pressed as to which QB will start the next game. Not so this time.

Anyone else believe that a QB change is imminent?

How To Solve A QB Controversey

All signs point to a change.

Simms poor choice of words and throwing team mates under the bus. Players seemingly like Bray more than any media member has pointed out. Finally, Dooley will be meeting with both QBs today to discuss the situation.

I'm not so certain after looking again. I think Simms was right concerning the fumble that got him pulled. I don't think you can pin that on him.

He dropped back and apparently the first reads were covered (if it was a quick pass). The defensive ends got behind him, he stepped up properly like he should have, and he attempted to move to the right in order to clear the pocket to see if anyone might be open, but the SC defenders closed that pocket very quickly and hit him from behind. It all happened in 4 seconds.

At the time, I was fuming ... and I thought he should have thrown it away. But, after further review that one is on the offensive line.

Still, you don't publicly trash your coach's decisions.

I think Simms public statements are the problem now. Dooley may start Simms, but Bray is going to see a lot of time on the field from now on. Simms has an entitlement issue and feels he can say what he wants no matter how it affects the team. Dooley has a problem and has to tone Simms down. At some time in the future I see Simms benched. It may be next year because the Vols don't have the backup QB's now.

Simms held onto the ball too long during his entire time in the game Saturday. it was not a one-time issue. In fact, he has done this all season long. He doesn't have 8 seconds to get a pass off. Then he has to be able to hold onto the ball when he gets hit.

His numbers may have looked good on paper, but his play hurt the team.

Simms has a lot of issues, including holding the ball too long ... I'm simply saying that I don't believe that was the case on the 3rd quarter fumble which resulted in his benching.

So, it wouldn't surprise me if Simms starts against Memphis, even though (a) Bray probably has much more upside and (b) Bray can make some plays that are really exciting and inspiring.
