Tennessee freshman defensive end Jacques Smith was involved in an overnight fight on the Cumberland Ave. strip. Sources indicate to Volquest.com that the fight was over a girl in what might be best described as a puppy love situation where Smith was upset over a girl Smith has been dating on and off was dancing with someone else.

After the “fight”, Smith and the person he hit left the club going their seperate way without any further incident.

Today, a warrant was issued for Smith on the charge of simple assault. Smith turned himself in and has since been released.

Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley is obviously aware of the incident and is gathering all the details he can before offering any comment on the situation and Smith's status at this time.

The freshman has 18 tackles on the year with 3 tackles for loss and 3 quarterback hurries.

Damn!!! These stupid kids. There isn't a piece of ass worth getting trouble over.

He had problems in high school too. This is not big enough to get thrown off the team but something has to happen. Maybe a one game suspension.
