Bryce Brown Has Left The UT Team

This seems like a big mistake by Bryce Brown....he will not play at all in 2010 and then will need to break in with some new team in 2011. The year off will hurt his development IMO. And the whole issue of "not getting what he was promised" is a moot point now that there's a new coach on board. I hope he reconsiders, more for his sake than the team's.

I agree - sitting on the shelf for two years is a big mistake.

Unless I'm missing something, he could still come back once he sorts everything out. From what I read he participated in all the workouts right up to spring practice so I'm just hoping he takes a couple days, makes the decision that's best for him and we're still his school......

No kidding, Rucker is the man.

As for BB not being happy last year being number 2, due to his 'recruitment'...well, tough shit. You couldnt carry Montario's jock last year. I mean Nothing against BB by saying that, its just that Hardesty was a freaking stud last season. Best RB play UT has had since 2001, and likely the best play we have for a few more years (even if BB had played). Brown is a good back, he is going to get better, and I wish he hadnt left...but he isnt Bo Jackson. He just isnt. He's more like Ced Houston.

As for him never going around publicly bitching about PT last year: well, I've never said BB was a bad kid. He handled that pretty well.

I actually understand his transferring, too. Outside of any 'personal' things that may or may not be going on and I dont want to speculate on, he knew what kind of competition he had to play here. Our RBs are good. There was no way Dooley was going to guarantee time. And even if he did, our OL is going to be absolutely horrid next season...so even if he WAS the man, he would get his head bashed in; and he's had concussion issues.

I have no problems with BB, and have no problems with him leaving. Hope his next school works out for him (unless he plays UT, in which case I hope he rushes for negative yards while fumbling 22 times)
he'll do just fine in Mannhappiness - and do well in the NFL..

Yeah, I think he will be fine too. A year or two off may not be a bad thing for him either. Hell, it may do him some good if the hip injury and concussions are as big of a problem as people have inferred over the last 6 or 7 months.

Like I said, I wish he wouldnt transfer. I'd rather have him than not, but I do see some good reasons for him to transfer (from his perspective anyway) so I understand why and I hope it works out for him.

But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either, because if someone's going to leave I'm glad it's a runningback. We have some others on the team who are damn good, and frankly...I think the freshman will be better than Brown and everyone else on the current roster anyway (no, not sour grapes...that kid's going to be special).

he'll do well working with HCBS - BB remains the mirror image of C. Scott - another one of those #1 recruits in all footballdom..

I've high hopes for the Tennessee running backs - all appear to be solid - no game changers - just solid..
