Tweets per Wes Rucker:

I've pretty much known this Brown thing was coming at some point - tried dropping hints today - but I didn't know it would be this soon.

Atleast temporarily not with the #Vols, I mean. Whoops. Dooley's still talking.

RB Bryce Brown at least not temporarily with the #Vols, per Dooley. May transfer. Looks like he will but nothing definite, per Dooley.

Dooley on Bryce Brown: As of now he's not a part of the team

We are fortunate that we are deep at RB-not as deep as we could have been with Brown in the fold. We will be just fine.

I'm wondering if BB is conflicted and blew off practice while he tried to figure things out....which is why Dooley said "as of now" he's not part of the team....as if there's an chance that could change. If not, we have a boatload of good running backs.....

Rumor is that he knocked up his girlfriend back home. If only he had dated Lacy. :$

Brown left on his own accord. Dooley left the door open for his return, but Brown has closed that door.

Wes Rucker says that he would have to sit out 2 years if he transferred before this school year ends.

Wes Rucker: Bryce Brown might leave Vols
Quote:

“Bryce Brown came to me today and indicated he’s dealing with a lot of personal and family problems right now,” Dooley said. “They’re concerns that I believe stem from — and what he told me stem from — some of the reasons why he came here, and his experience over the first six months that he was here.

“As of right now, he’s not a part of the team. That doesn’t mean we’ve kicked him off, by any means. We want Bryce here, and he’s going to be here (at least) through the rest of the semester. But my focus really is on the 85 guys who are here and have great spirit about the direction of the program and are excited about their first practice.”

New word is that Brown's father's heavy-handedness is in play.

Rumor is that he knocked up his girlfriend
Which is absolutely THE best reason EVER to leave college...

On a related note, and after reading that rumor and the Nu'Kese facebook postings, I've decided every player on our team last year was a complete moron.

Would hate to see him go but this is one position where it wuddn't bother us. Forget Tauren Poole, he was gonna have a helluva time beating out Toney Williams who WILL be the starter this season if Brown doesn't come back.

No he won't...his head won't be right after the injury for at least 18-24 months after the Surgery. You Just don't get that shit outa your head.

If Williams is ready to go after his surgery awesome, but I doubt it will happen.

More according to Wes Rucker:

Quote:

Bryce Brown wasn't happy backing up Hardesty last season, FWIW. He expected to start because of his recruitment. This is 100% true.

Quote:

Bryce never said on the record he was mad at being No. 2, so you're just gonna have to trust me on that one. Also, he was promised things...

Quote:

More touches. Bigger role. Coaches tried appeasing by giving him goalline TDs

Quote:

A few times last season, Hardesty ran up/down the field and Brown got the goalline TD. You could see right through it.

No kidding, Rucker is the man.

As for BB not being happy last year being number 2, due to his 'recruitment'...well, tough shit. You couldnt carry Montario's jock last year. I mean Nothing against BB by saying that, its just that Hardesty was a freaking stud last season. Best RB play UT has had since 2001, and likely the best play we have for a few more years (even if BB had played). Brown is a good back, he is going to get better, and I wish he hadnt left...but he isnt Bo Jackson. He just isnt. He's more like Ced Houston.

As for him never going around publicly bitching about PT last year: well, I've never said BB was a bad kid. He handled that pretty well.

I actually understand his transferring, too. Outside of any 'personal' things that may or may not be going on and I dont want to speculate on, he knew what kind of competition he had to play here. Our RBs are good. There was no way Dooley was going to guarantee time. And even if he did, our OL is going to be absolutely horrid next season...so even if he WAS the man, he would get his head bashed in; and he's had concussion issues.

I have no problems with BB, and have no problems with him leaving. Hope his next school works out for him (unless he plays UT, in which case I hope he rushes for negative yards while fumbling 22 times)

Kiffin and Orgy made promises that they didn't keep????? Just to get him to sign???? Wow ... that sort of untrue slander is just way out of line. Rucker has no idea what he is writing about.

:P

Oh, and R.I.P. Bryce. Loved you in Orange, and wish you would have stayed ... I think you will be something special!
